Cumberbatch, being in the world of "entertainment" probably only sees what he calls toxic masculinity and foolishly assumes that Hollywood is a reflection of the real world.

What we really need to eliminate is Hollywood toxic stupidity. I recommend starting by banning Cumberbatch from the industry.

Responding to the actual topic, the article reads like the problem isn't actually Benedict being a staunch ally of women's relevance and contribution in society but how the director of the film is handling a genre she has no experience with, depicting a culture she's not a part of.

judging from the news we are smack in the middle of this cycle, here come the hard times.

Benedict Cumberbatch is a complete twat.

He's a #ing bellend of epic proportions.

He might be a good actor - he has starred in some half decent programmes/films etc - but he represents everything I detest.

We need to get rid of bullying and not standing up for what's right, we need to promote masculinity amongst the male population.

Yes -- that's exactly what I was trying to say.

I want to see men be their best, and teach their sons and grandsons how to be their best, and to be good men for their own sakes (as much as for women's sake). Every day there are numerous stories about men committing truly horrific crimes against women and children, which does NOT represent all men. But are held against all men, because "men". I want to see men do better for themselves.

And I have to say, we are seeing increasing stories about women committing absolutely horrific crimes against other women and children, and less often men. If it keeps up, lots of women will have to eat their words and start demanding the same of themselves and "toxic femininity."

Male feminists tend to be weak males that resort to deception to give females a false sense of security. The goal is to have sex. Too many times to mention these so called "allies" of women turn out to be rapists and sex offenders.
Over the years I have found those that virtual signal the loudest either do it out of guilt of the skeletons in their closet or as a deceptive psychopathic/sociopathic tool of hiding their true intentions so they can prey on vulnerable victims.

I thought the "girl power" would've provided context but I should've specified "how to behave around women."
However, my comment wasn't intended to , somehow, save all women or to instruct others how to raise their children.

It's just galling when these vacuous celebrities think they're doing something noble when they're really just publicly polishing their imaginary halos.

Give it enough time and Benny boy will probably get exposed as a womanising creep, himself.

Silly celebrities and their public self praise.....before you know it, they'll be calling for Russia to be kicked out of NATO.

Toxic masculinity is a catch-all for evil, therefore only men can be evil. So if masculinity can be toxic then there must be a non-toxic (or even positive) aspect as well? Funny no one mentions that part, as if males were somehow a lesser part of society and not needed. I don't care who you are you may be born of woman but you were sired by man. Everything in the Leftist playbook seeks to tear down established norms and the very concepts our society was built upon. Fine then, just send women to fight WW 3 and let the men sit this one out. We'll stay home and watch over the kiddies.

I gave this a bit of thought. My Dad was a sergeant in the Army. He was indeed a manly man, to the point of being on the side of ridiculous. Thinking back to the time he accidentally cut off his pinky finger, while letting down the back seats to make a place for the little ones to sleep when we were at the drive-in. He wrapped it in a handkerchief and waited until the movie was over, so as not to disappoint us kids, before stopping at the hospital on the way home, to have it sewn back on.

He was old fashioned manly. Men don't do this, and women don't do that, kind of manly. Yet he raised four awesome sons, and five amazing daughters. He had his moments of toxicity, unfortunately, it was due solely to his tendency to over imbibe, but he was a joyful, funny, and well loved, highly functional alcoholic.

Between my Uncles, my Grandfather, and a couple of the elders in the community, what some would call toxic masculinity, helped me grow up feeling loved, cared for, and protected. I know that my story isn't the same for everyone. I also know that I was very blessed. I am just throwing in my two cents, as a reminder that all manly men are toxic, and they don't all create damaged psyches.

Good point and well said.

My folks were always equal partners who started out with next to nothing.
My mum was very hard working and strong willed. She raised me and three sisters who are nobodies victims and have done very well for themselves with good jobs, nice homes and families.

We were all brought up to treat people the way we would like to be treated regardless of who or what they were.

Of course, we all know that one guy who is an a**hole womanising jerk but no one likes that guy and most men don't act like that .
For some reason that one guy has become the standard by which we are all judged and that is a disservice to all the good guys.

Frankly, that's a matter of opinion and depends on the brand of "Feminism" they subscribe to. Too much of Feminism caters to a very specific and very limited ideology and end goals which is outright anti-female in too many ways.
