Elden Ring

Well I decided to pre purchase Elden Ring and I have just downloaded and started to play it, I will let you know more as I go and would love your guys feedback!

I will say so far its beautiful, but im having a very very very hard time negotiating this game because its COMPLETELY setup to use a controller, ALL of the prompts are for controller with NO indication on what computer keys to use

leaving your only recourse to continually navigate to the PC keyboard controlls and try to memorize where everything is.

Im really quite pissed that they didnt at least make it to where you can switch to keyboard prompts so you know what the hell to hit to advance.

Example, the JUMP key is F instead of Keyboard space, there are a bunch of others mapped that dont make sense.

Anyone else aggrivated by this?

Is there no option to remap the keys more to your liking? Most games will let you do that.

A quick internet look shows me you will have an option under settings that will change game button prompts from controller to Keyboard.

Looks like it's under

"Sound and Display"

After that you can also alter the key bindings to your liking.


The game is supposed to be Awesome. Hope you like it.

I literally didn’t realize what day it was and I haven’t pre loaded. It won’t be able to play after work.
REEEEEEEEEEEE.

So you can go line by line and remap, but the problem is the Prompts in game itself, only give you the playstation controller key maps, they dont tell you which keys to hit for Keyboard......Im looking at reviews right now and this seems to be a HUGE one

Bought it for my lad as he loved Demon Souls. I don’t have the time for games like this but it looks good.

I prefer controllers for these games, why don’t you just buy an old PS4 or Xbox pad and plug it into your PC?

Assuming it was developed with PlayStation in mind as that’s the most profitable platform and not worth their time to code alternative key prompts.

The souls games are predominantly available for consoles.

I can understand a keyboard and mouse for shooters or strategy but not for third person adventure games specifically tailored for controllers.

I have been playing PC games for 30 years.

Elden Ring won’t get anywhere near a million sales on Steam, it will however smash that number on PS.

If you want we can PVP at dark souls and I’ll smash you to bits with my controller. They offer more dexterity in these type of games. The same can be said for sports and racing sims. Some games are designed to be played with controllers and that’s a fact.

Am I buying it or what?

I’ve been hearing nothing but great reviews for it on YouTube. But I’d rather hear from an actual gamer.

Say money is no issue. Im looking for something to immerse myself in for a good while.
Do I need this game?

Anyone who has time for a game this size literally has no life.
There are other things you can do with your time that are much more rewarding.

I did play it. Realized how much time it would take, and that it was no where near as fun as Zelda or Skyrim.
Lost interest very quick. And I'm too busy.
