TAIPEI, Feb 24 (Reuters) - Taiwan's air force scrambled again on Thursday to warn away nine Chinese aircraft that entered its air defence zone, Taiwan's defence ministry said, on the same day that Russia invaded Ukraine, a crisis being watched closely in Taipei.

They've been doing this for years. They won't take their territory back for awhile. They wanna see what happens with Russia getting their territory back before they do anything to drastic lol

Wouldn't surprise me if China uses this as an opportunity to go ahead and finalize taking back Taiwan. The US would be spread to thin trying to deal with both at same time, nor does US have the stomach for a hot war.

Yup.

People can say what they want, but Trump was tougher with Russia and China, including with trade agreements and so on.

Biden canceled the Keystone pipeline while trying to approve the eastern European pipeline, which only helps Russia.

Sometimes, things are completely the opposite of what the media portrays things as.

Many leaders in DC including possibly Biden are compromised by China, which makes things even worse.

It would make sense, with Covid impacts on economy and organization, as well as the conflict with Russia.

A major difference between the two situations is that the entire world recognizes Ukraine as a sovereign country while only 15 minor countries in the world recognize Taiwan as independent from China (and none of those 15 countries are NATO members or otherwise in any position to say "boo" to China should they see Taiwan taken by force.)

Considering even the USA is too chicken# to acknowledge Tainwan's independence, China likely isn't going to base their decisions on toothless theatrical threats the west makes against Russia.

You all would have known Vlad and Xi were "Best Friends".

I think we should send more air defense to Taiwan and support them more and not make the same mistake we did with Ukraine.

Not wanting to be too Hawkish, but we could definitely benefit from a more defensive posture preparing for when Putin, or some other autocrat such as Xi, decides they want to go on an imperial escapade.

Russia is helping china with their power issues by supplying coal, china has agreed to not criticize or support sanctions in a public fashion.

Stands to reason that Russia will have their back in the event of a conflict in the east.

Japan is supposed to be willing to fight with China if they attack. SO, maybe Tawain won't be as vulnerable as lonely Ukraine.

And the US does and will give them the weapons they need.
