Victoria will be in debt for eternity for a 8 billion dollar train line!

Another recent announce by dan Andrews in top of his already substantially priced projects is a train line from sunshine to the airport, at a cost of 5 to 8 billion.

On top of his other billion dollar projects.

How the funk can this cost so much, there’s already a train Line that runs to Sunbury, all you need is a branch line to the airport off the existing line a bridge over the gully, some signalling, points, intergration into thd network. Surely this should not cost 8 billion.

70 million just for the business case, what the hell? Before a shovel us lifted.

We already have taxis, sky bus, Uber private cars, public transport busses to the airport, do we really need a train.

It’s not we have massive underemployment, no ones paying taxes, so how can we pay for his big spending?

He is not funding ambulances, people are dying waiting 6 hours for help, he is channeling money to big project spending.

Well I actually did not expect a response other than a PM threatening my life....
TBH I do not trust the in and out of your country.

Also I will never support a choke on economic growth.

Agreed mate, I am not against economic growth, though that Andrews is committing public funding it will be a massive economic sugar rush.

Big projects need to be spread over decades not a decade like we are doing, as there will be nothing left in the tank.



Please have alook at these projects mind younghese have been started over the past 4 to 5 years.

West gate tunnel project expected cost blowout 4 billion dollars. Approx cost 13 billion already over budget by 4 billion.


East west link connection, possible cost 17 billion in progress at the moment

Sunshine rail link approx 8 billion.

I am just concerned that we don’t have the money to pay for these projects due to covid.

It’s simple you need people to pay taxes tk fund projects, though a lot of people are not working, so no money to pay project costs.

The money has to to be borrowed, short term at high costs.

If would make sense to spread the cost.

If people realised a billion is a Thousand million dollars that’s a truckload if Money.

I referred to the MCG rebuild when the great southern stand was built 30 years ago.

The cost was 150 million in 1992. How the funk can a rebuild now cost over a billion dollars 30 years later, it’s not like the cost of materials and labour has gone up 800 percent.

I can see what you are saying, thd train line will run most likely underground to the under ground train station that was built under the hotel outside the airport 50 years ago.

I don’t se any place tk put a freight terminal on site for heavy equipment.
