Russia has captured secret U.S. equipment from a Virginia-class nuclear submarine that was allegedly operating within the country's territorial waters, according to a report from a Moscow-based news agency.
The Avia.pro news agency reported on Tuesday that Russia had obtained what the agency described as a sonar countermeasure device which the U.S. Navy submarine had allegedly abandoned when it left the area.
The report comes amid ongoing tensions along the Russia-Ukraine border as the U.S. has repeatedly warned that Russian forces may be poised to invade the country.
As of February 2022, 49 members of Congress—six members of the U.S. Senate and 43 members of the U.S. House—have announced they will not seek re-election. Of those, thirty-three members—six senators and 28 representatives—have announced their retirement. Five retiring Senate members are Republicans and one is a Democrat, and of the retiring House members, 22 are Democrats and six are Republicans.
