Virginia. So it was about the money.

Guilty of WHAT? That's the funny part. So far nothing he did was illegal.

Having sex with a minor. She was 17 which is underage in the US.

That's why he's been so cagey about the whole thing.

There was a fear that he could face jail time in the US.

I believe she was a citizen of Florida at the time.

Legal age of consent - 18.

That depends on the State. She's even said that she was of legal age.

"There's a term for what Giuffre and her lawyers did here. It's called extortion and they got away with it."

No. He could have had his day in Court, like he claimed to have wanted.

Why pay millions to someone he so publicly claimed to have never met?

As I said, it could never be a fair trial.

Civil lawsuits are generally all about money.

It depends on where it all occurred. Also I think it was handled at the federal level.

She went to some pains to disassociate herself from the perception that she just wanted a financial settlement. She wanted her day in court and be vindicated. That's the problem.

Well, in that case he's golden.

Once in London, once in New York, and once on a yacht somewhere.

Making it Federal jurisdiction.

I did. I've got a problem with those that bring up things that happened 10 or 20 years ago, get publicity and public opinion on their side and use it to EXTORT money. It doesn't matter who it is.

"This woman has taken on and called out one of the most privileged and self entitled man in the world."

Your statement strengthens my belief.

The US attorney in that case made a plea deal with Epstein without the knowledge or consent of the victims - A massive no no.

He got off easy from the first trial...

Not so much the second go around. Personally I think he was murdered.

I'm not American so I don't understand the US legal system.

As I understand it, Giuffre was a citizen of Florida at the time she allegedly had sex with him.

She was 17, which makes her a minor in that state's legal system, wherever she had sex.

What does federal jurisdiction mean?

It doesn't matter where you are from, it's where you are. If the age of consent was 17 in the State where they had sex, it would be legal. Now there is one thing that needs mentioned here. It is a Federal crime to take a person over a State border for the purpose of having sex. If the age of consent in Florida was 18 and the age in Georgia was 16 it is illegal to take a 17 year old to Georgia from Florida to have sex with them. The thing here is that if Epstein took Giuffre to Virginia from Florida for Andrew to have sex with her, Epstein committed a crime not Andrew. We had a discussion about this last night at the Club. We get into some crazy legal questions. That's the problem when you are drinking beer with a couple of Lawyers and a retired Judge.
