What we bought when we first got that game was a game with it's heart ripped out.
It wanted to be a futuristic GTA V and had some limited RPG element's bolted on but no real free playstyle, you were stuck in your role with the only
differences being the starting character and good and bad choices but no real faction alignment beyond your need to get Johnny out of your head OR
become him.
With the exception of the graphics technically GTA V was the better game by far (even if it felt repetitive and boring after a few play's and I Would
argue that Cyberpunk had a little more staying power if only for the great design of some parts of the city and the wish to explore them a bit
more).
But the world that was created for Cyberpunk felt more interesting.
Had it been done as it was originally envisioned it would have been a superb game, ride the rail network a cut feature along with whole cut quests,
engage in car chases and pursuits as it was meant to be and not on the rails cut scene type shootouts but proper dynamic chases.
Play as a true bounty hunter or even join the police would have been a great option for the corporat with an underlying clear your name and get
revenge missions, smuggle if you were a nomad with underworld connections as it should have been perhaps contraband from the rest of the US.
The tank for what it is worth was a cool idea but definitely could have done with some more work, the cars were nice too but handline needed mods' to
get the best feel for the game and some blade runner inspired mods' went a long way toward making it more fun but it was ultimately a miss sold
unfinished game with too few missions, some of them were cool though like tracking a man's wife and finding out that she was not who she claimed to be
but had a full body cosmetic work done, even though rudimentary it showed that a private detective story line would definitely have worked.
I liked the atmosphere if not the music, made it better with some blade runner inspired mod's such as turning Misty into Pristy (Whom she was
inspired by anyway) which was great fun.
But those bug's, some were minor like the missing lod that shows up as you drove the back road from the second nomad camp back to the city that
showed something had been there but removed during development likely another town or something leaving just some disappearing and reappearing
mountain lod's.
The fake distant traffic was a let down too.
But there is a rumour that 1.5 may include a second city and a new area to explore, perhaps it will also include some true RPG Elements and a new
game mod, start as a completely different character, play out a different story.
But for all that it's story was actually good though I felt like CDPR had taken me for a mug when I bought it and expected far more than I got.
Still we that really want a blade runner open world RPG will continue to have to wait until someone makes one.
