Stress...the covid all the rules; everyday on the news over and over and over again. Now...Russia vs. the Ukraine we just got out of Afganistan now this!

I feel scared...angry...and wondering what the future is for all of us.

I used to be a person who got up in the morning glad to greet the day; in a good mood. Now...I wake up afraid and wondering how to manage all the added stress in my life that I did not ask for.

I live in Seattle and the gun violence is increasing; it;s like the wild west! Everyday I look at the police blotter to read what area of town I need to avoid.

I am a senior...I wanted my last years to be fun and restful.

How are you all doing?

I am sorry... I imagine there are many feeling like you now. If I were in a area where I feared for my own safety or my families I would be armed and move... There have always been places in big cities to avoid but from what I read those areas seem to be expanding into areas that were once safe and nice.

I'm a senior too mate. Chose a reasonable selection upon retiring, out in the sticks. Can't live in the burbs anymore. There's some real DH's there. Must be more frightening for you with the guns and all in Seattle. My life at this stage is cool but not really fun due to some health issues.

Restful, yes but boring at times. Otherwise doing alright.

Cheers for asking,

Kind regards,

Bally

Try Netflix.

Seriously. If this World is really stressing you out that bad, then let your mind visit some other different Worlds for awhile.

Find some longer TV series, something with at least a few Seasons. Immerse yourself in some of those Worlds for awhile and stop thinking about this one.

Step away. Drop it. And step away.
Things aren't worse than before. The world keeps on turning even if you don't read/watch the news.
It's never too late to pick up a new hobby. Tinker with stuff or carving wood or soapstone.
Create your own work out schedule. Maybe try meditation. Walks. A cup of tea and a good book. Or write your memoirs...
There are plenty of things you could do. All of them better than obsessing over # you can't influence anyways.

Stop watching the MSN News and see what happens.

"If it bleeds, it reads", the media is hyped up bad news, fears sells better than sex.

It is exhausting trying to keep up with the daily parade of bad news. I must admit, I am addicted to doom porn, but it's because of the daily fear fest on the MSM news.

As a prepper and survival minded type, I'm into situational awareness. I want to be aware so I can act as soon as possible based on any relevant information I can find. But it can consume you, burn you out, make you paranoid, reclusive and even delusional.

"Conspiracy Theory", 1997, R , 2h 15m
A taxi driver with a penchant for conspiracy theories becomes a target after one of these theories turns out to be true. Unfortunately, to save himself, he has to figure out which theory it is.
Stars - Mel Gibson, Julia Roberts, and Patrick Stewart.

Thanks to all...your responses are very helpful ...yes I agree I do need to distract and plug into my hobbies...it is beyond my control and I radically accept that fact...(what is going on in the world I am referring to.)

A BIG hug to all.

I ignore the news as much as possible and concentrate on the good things and people around me who make life worthwhile.

I have my family, my health, and a good training group. I have a job. These things are blessings in today's world, and I know it and I am grateful.
