Issue with post content not appearing.

Having an issue with text in my posts sometimes not appearing in the post, specifically things using codes like quotes, or bolded text, but when I hit edit to check the content is still there and properly formatted.

An example would be my last post here:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

I quoted another member, who had quoted another member, and while in the edit mode you can see the relevant codes and other user names and the formatting looks just fine, but when I preview or hit post the other user names and quotes do not appear.
Had to manually add the first quote to the post separately from the quote it should be 'stacked' in for it to appear.

Seems to occur at random for me, usually with but not limited to 'stacked' quotes.

Pretty sure it's a site side issue as it happens on different PC's I use and their respectively different browsers.
Been happening for a while now, at least months, just this latest occurrence reminded me to report it.

Checked the thread you reference and it is absolutely blank other than the BG, title and flag count.

From your description alone, I think the "stacking" of quotes may be the problem.
Long ago the ATS management took a dislike to long quotes of posts within other posts, especially when the quotes themselves contained other quotes. So action was taken to discouarge.
I think the effect is that if a [ quote ] instruction is not "closed" by the necessary [ / quote ], and a further [ quote ] is added, whatever follows is not displayed. If the [ / quote ] is inaccurately typed, that has the same effect.

goddamn. that is another separate ancient issue with the site. Posts not appearing when they're on the 'last page'

That's the 19th reply bug. When you use the hyper link to the 19th post of every page it tries to take you to the 1st post of the next page and being that there is currently only 19 posts it comes up blank.

My ability to upload on this site has always been random.

Sometimes it'll tell me because I have an ad-blocker enabled I cannot upload even when I don't have one enabled or installed and other times when I have an ad-blocker enabled I can upload.....

Every upload attempt is always a surprise.

But yeah if you have an ad-blocker, I'd start there. Even if it is disabled or you have ATS whitelisted in it.

I love this sites format, but it's always been jank on the technical side on things like no other forum I have ever used. lol

The jankness is sometimes part of ATS's charm. Sometimes.

Long and stacked quotes have never been an issue for me in the past. Unless a few months is a 'long time'

It hasn't been limited to just quotes either, I've had other 'coded' text not show in post while appearing in edit like links and bolded and italic text etc. where whatever is in-between some of the 'code' just will not appear in the post.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough in OP when I said "usually with but not limited to 'stacked' quotes" in OP.

Its a bug that I've encountered before. I consider it a non issue.
Just change the pg2 to page1 in URL then remove post ID number, it should be the last post on pg1

yep, old bug I don't care about right now because It's fixable on my own end by going to the thread and navigating the pages instead of using a link to jump to that post.

Any ways, thread was made for the issues stated in OP any way. That is pretty much my only concern here as those I cannot fix on my end.

Honestly, I like that feature, because it didn't use to be that way and people would get way out of line with it. Sometimes people would keep re-quoting the entire post back and forth in an ongoing conversation between the 2 members. It would end up with a quote within a quote within a quote within a quote.... on and on.

As other members have pointed out, quotes inside quotes do not appear on the thread, although they exist in the original text, and it has been like that for many years.

As for your link not working, you are pointing to page 2 of a thread that has only one page, so your link doesn't work.

Well I'm happy to say it started working again today. The way it was behaving was every thing seemed normal, it would percentage-up and then just wouldn't be there.

I bet I had tried close to 15 times over a few days. Glad it's back and thanks for being willing to help.

It's is a bi weird when it happens.
