What a damn shame!

Those ACT really made themselves look bad, and will do nothing but turn otherwise peaceful people against them in the long run.

I would like to know who began the altercation when they initially arrested that 70 year old woman (for god knows what trumped up charge).

From the video it seems like the police went after the most vulnerable. The 80 year old peaceful protester to the young children in the tent.

Mate, if you can't protest or park something larger than a VW in a place you're supposedly allowed to, we KNOW who the perpetrators are..

I get your point, but this isn't main stream media. It's a guy, independent, who follows these events. To make sure the truth is first most.. not the MSM narrative.. What you saw, is what happened. No shenanigans.

From what i saw, the officer brushed/pushed her aside on his way through as she was attempting to film and scold him. She poked/pushed him after that, then he went to detain her.

I saw a bunch of people peacefully hanging out on public land. Nice day in the sun.
I saw a bunch of people who were parking their vehicles on public land illegally. Parking ticket violations.
I saw a small squad of coppers patrolling the area, apparently once every hour to keep an eye on the camp. No problem, it's their job to enforce the law.

I saw a guy with a microphone and a camera man videoing the afternoon. I saw a bunch of people standing around talking a lot with the coppers, shaking hands and stuff. The guy with the microphone was interviewing some of the coppers.

All was peaceful. He was also inviting anyone listening to his broadcast to come and join the protest.

Then one gal, dancing around a copper, turns and gives him a shove. Opps, that's a no no. Shouldn't touch the coppers. Shouldn't shouldn't shouldn't, The copper turns and for a moment takes her by the arm gently it seemed and then she tries to pull away.
At that point all of the people begin to surround the coppers with their cameras filming and their microphones trying to get into the acion while other people begin to surround the coppers and push and shove as tempers begin to flare.

I saw the coppers take up a defensive position as the crowd pushes towards them. Then the coppers begin to retreat in their defensive stance an a small number of protesters manage to get themselves some battle scars to help demonstrate the over powering authoritarianism of the government.

My opinion? The coppers were doing their job. The government was protecting public spaces. Here in the US, we know that public spaces like this where people congregate peacefully though illegally often turn into illegal camps that begin to draw more and more people which then end up turning into over crowded camps with refuge and sanitation problems. All on public lands.

So no, I did not see any storming by the coppers. I did see a bunch of protesters itching for an angry media event and that by George is what they ended up getting. Exactly what they wanted.

I think you might be making more of my post than intended. I just wanted to know why they initially arrested the 70 year old woman, then who became violent first? No matter who is filming, narratives will twist - even if its just a guy - and i was curious before narratives began to pop up, as to who was the real aggressor....to ME it seemed like the ACT (cops), but its hard to tell.

so, cops "doing their job" had to pepper spray some old man and kids, because they couldn't handle them otherwise? how is that justified?

are you f..king serious?

i saw your trolling in multiple threads quite a few times, but this is too much. go, lick the boots of your prescious coppers.

I think the "public" part is what incenses people the most... at least it does for me....cops dont own that land (in fact, if ancient history is to be taken into account, no one does) ....

I personally believe the cops were being antagonistic unnecessarily....like the guy in the video said, they created a conundrum, if they were NOT there in such a presence, a lot of people likely would have left....with them being there, it sorta created an environment where people wanted to stay.

Hey I lick no one boots, especially poor souls as you yourself seem to be. I reported what I saw and stated such. Cant's deal with that? Fine. Seems you have found an easy way out in attempts to deal with opinions that counter your own sense of reality. Just call em trolls. You ain't the first and you certainly will not be the last...

I agree. The presence of the coppers mixed with the peaceful protesters is like oil and water, not a good match.
But isn't that what a protest like this comes down to? Protesters wanting to protest peacefully, fine. Patrolmen being ordered by the system to patrol peacefully. And all it takes is one little push and the whole thing turns sideways.

Shouldn't it be totally expected by now? Haven't we seen numbers of videos of this sort of thing happening? I have had my own experiences on the front lines of protests. I"ve been pepper sprayed, pushed back by the shields of advancing police. I"ve stood face to face with armed riot squads while yahoos from behind the crowd of protesters lobbed rocks and bottles over the heads of us all inciting the squads into action. I learned that lesson fifty years ago and guess what, from all I"ve seen very little has changed except that now it is the co called conservatives who think they may be able to peacefully confront the police when in my day it was the liberal youth.

But again, you are right. Had there been no cops, the whole thing could easily have dwindled back down to nothing but a fine sunny morning the next say. Had there been no cops. But there were and THAT was to be expected by any cogent person, be they liberal or be they conservative.

For me, if you want to stick your finger up the nose of the tactical arm of the establishment you do so at your own risk. There is no ''waaa'' look what they dunna me, cry baby stuff. Ya takes your lumps and either stand away or get back to it with no tears and get lumped again. All the folk standing around with their recording gear, looking for any little sign of activity doesn't help either because we all should know by now as well that many of us will happily go to being the media star in our own lives. Put that camera on me.

Funny thing about that. I watched Kimmel last night, I was up late. He does a segment on the street where he sends down a guy and a camera to do ''street level interviews''. The question last night that was asked of people on the street was basically have you been watching the Olympics. But the Olympics haven't started yet. Yet person after person replied, on the spot to absurd questions concerning totally fictitious events and things. Person after person just lied and pretended that they had been watching making up on the spot things that had impressed them on what they had seen though in reality they had seen noting at all. One guy went on and on about this and that pretending to know a lot about what he had seen on the tube. When none of it was real, it was all made up lies. The interviewer then asked him about one of his tattoos, a big one written all across his fore arm. It read, ready for this? ''NO ONE LIKES A LIAR''

All that to simply say, mix protesters, cops, and cameras, and what to we get? Mostly nothing at all, but sometimes we get footage that can go viral....

When people protest, it's not these cops job to 'bust' them. It was peaceful, till it was antagonised by the cops who went to 'bust" them...

They should have burnt down building and called for less police and glued doors shut.

You know, like Trump supporters don't. Then the cops would have just walked around being all violent and shooting peeps..

Where do you all come from.
