Arm a Nation

As the newly elected president of the newly independent country of Madeupistan, I am looking to complety refit my countrys armed forces. Thanks to my countrys large oil reserves money is not a problem.

My country is bordered by at least one "unfriendly country" using a combination of older and newer Warsaw Pact style equipment.


I would like your suggestions on which type of equipment my nation should purchase to fulfill the defense needs from the following list

Infantry Weapon/Support Weapon

A.P.C.

M.B.T.

Artillery System

Fighter/Strike Aircraft

Intergrated S.A.M. System

Please bear in mind that diplomatic ties with USA are not the strongest so it would be unlikley that thier latest tech would be available (F22 JSF etc)

Well, I'll play with:

Infantry Weapon/Support Weapon - 5.56 G36, or FN-2000.

APC - BMP2 - mobile, good armed, and cheap enough,

Wheeled APC - BTR-90 (russian) - the same, best equipped with US Losat misilles, if possible.

Small vehicle (4x4) - South African mamba - advanced, and more mine resistant

M.B.T. - Leclerc, or T-90 if you want to buy cheap

Artillery - German PzH 2000 (the best todays howitzer - 155mm,40km range,60 ammo), Slovakia Zuzana/Susan if you want something lighter and cheaper(wheeled,40km, 28 ton).

Fighter/Strike - Su-35 with Israel avionics/Mirage 2000 or F-16 if possible.

Attack Helicopter - Roivalk (South Africa) - Apache clone and they will sell it to EVERYONE, because they need export sales, armed with SA Helfire clones

SAM - patriot, if not possible than S- 300.

Heliopter - Blackhawk+some Chinooks.

Tactical transport = Hercules.

Well, before I comment let me get a few things straight:

#1 You have huge oil reserves?

#2 You have little or no armament?


If I understand these two facts to be correct, I must regretfully inform you that my country, Killthemforoilistan, a heavily armed nation of war will invade shortly to secure your oil reserves.

You will no longer need to arm yourselves as you will have no control over your oil and my nation will build many military bases there to help secure your neighbor’s oil as well.

Ok I’ll play along too.
For jets I would have to go with the Mig-29 and F-16 as both are cheap but very effective. As for artillery they is no going wrong to by some howitzers.

My word Wodan, that is one seriously complicated OOB. The TOET alone, must have taken half the trees from a small rain forest to print up.

you mean why I choose which weapons?

well it depends on:

some units dont have vehicles where they can carry heavy weapons, on the other side there are units which have strong support by vehicles and for that dont need too heavy equipment, or their job doesnt demand them....

Scenario: Small Island Country--peaceful quiet...neutral
Military: Non-existent or so it would seem, no uniforms, nada

Navy: Container ships "old rundown" that really ship registered in Panama. Company HQ Bermuda. Inside the ships: my my my whatever you need. A 350' bottom hatch to release subs, mines, robots, sensors, Spec ops troops, torpedoes, lay cable sensors. On top in some containers weapons of your choice SAMs, SSMs, possibly a few hangers for some VTOL AC. Stealth option panels slide up to dissappear if neccessary, rarely though. Speed usualy 12 kts, the other goodies save you though. or if you need it a faster propolsussion system. Crew Civie dress scragly looking and dangerous as hell. Electronics steal signals from all mil sattelites US, China, Russia, etc. Laser air defense in a container. A couple that are submersible. Ouch the cost, maybe not, just small quiet subs dropped out the belly. Subs perhaps 36 small 180' fuel cell powered dead quiet, can shot down AC from underwater all home based 50 miles of the coast in 3-6 deep sea bases 800'+ deep subs unmarked just research.

Airforce: Cargo Airline Old 747's and 767's AWACS Laser equip if so desired, possible massive drone launchers, nasty electronics, drop viruses or seed a storm to cause massive flooding.

For the Ground attack role would got to the A-10 not sure if I would have F-16 or the F-16 for the fighter role.
