Well the us olympic authority and others should have cut the head of the snake earlier. Cut this cows funding, if China to piggyback in her tuition let them pay for it.

Any athlete that’s drained funding and then double crosses to compete in events for other countries should be cut off and have their citizenship revoked.

If you can’t as an athlete I hope your legs get broken in your next event.

Let em keep her, she is a scumbag. Though if she doesn’t play the game she will be a show pony on some rich bastards arm in China of dead. She made her choice.

It’s blatantly obvious, she or her mother had this whole shebang arranged along time ago.

I hope she gets her ass kicked and breaks all her limbs, cause of her double agent status.

I mean ya that stings a little but it's not like she is some white American entirely. There is some heritage there with her mom. It also appears that she's on the verge of becoming a global icon to an extent so this may broaden her exposure more with billions of people across the pond.

She made the decision three years ago when she was 15 and had only been competing internationally for a year.

If you're that upset about this, wait until you learn about all the times in the past when professional athletes that compete and train in the US have competed for other countries at the Olympics.

It's a rule set by the IOC that allows athletes to represent other countries like that. The "I" in there stands for "International" and so the US Olympic Committee has no standing to overrule that.

.... What? 🤔

Meh her choice, obviously an ignorant kid that doesn't see or doesn't care to believe what's happening in the sweat shops and concentration camps.

It's a nice ideal that she wants to do, but I don't think it's going to work out the way she thinks.

No. This is a choice. It happens all the time in other sports for the Olympics. Hockey and Basketball come to mind real fast as well as others.

We cannot, as the US, continue to punish people for making a choice. That would make us no better than China.

At least it is not a trans situation....

The one interesting thing is that while most of the world recognizes Gu as having dual citizenship, China does not allow their citizens to have dual citizenship.

I'm guessing China is just going to turn a blind eye to that so they can ensure Gu competes for them, but technically China should require her to renounce her US citizenship to complete for them.

Yea she is, but my experience is many good looking women are conniving little bich's to.

Wouldn't surprise me if she planned to do this long ago. The U.S. Olympic Committee should sue her for every dime spent on training and travel, stripped of all her titles and make her or her new allegiance pay for her way home, and if applicable Victoria Secret should sue her for breach of contract if they were planning on using her status as a U.S. Olympic skier in their advertising.

Sorry little (expletive deleted) life should be made so miserable here, that she loads up and becomes a good little communist in China.

Once again, the first season she competed internationally was 2017-18. She made the announcement she would compete for China in 2019. She was 15 years old at that time. She's currently 17.

You guys are getting way too into a sport that you may watch once every 4 years.

What are your thoughts America?

My thought? You are simply ignorant.

Unlike a naturalized citizen, a native American cannot have their Citizenship 'stripped'.

But she's hardly the first.

For example, Oliver Bjorkstrand has dual US and Danish citizenship but he'll be playing for Denmark in these Olympics.

You don't need to be a citizen of a country to represent it in the Olympics per the IOC. So that's not an issue.

Edit to add: You only need to share heritage or nationality, which she does.

I realise this, though why should taxpayers foot the bill for another country to potentially win the gold.
