Strange underwater structure

Saint Petersburg, second-largest city in Russia. It is situated on the Neva River, at the head of the Gulf of Finland on the Baltic Sea, with a population of roughly 5.4 million residents.

I was looking around on google earth for curiosity purposes, at ships and submarines.

When looking at the port of Saint Petersburg I did find something strange peaking out of the water.

Looks like giant pipes or some other strange underwater structure, in some of the pictures of the place from different time lines it almost look like some of the structure parts is peaking out of the ice while some are under the ice, look at pictures below.

Almost 700 feet across, and half mile in length, hard to tell because it looks like it is at a angle pointing up to surface from below.

Check the place out for yourself on Google Earth, and remember to check the different timelines to see different pictures of it.

Well, not sure if its warmer water coming out of those things but if its just moving water it would look about the same?

Weird how they are asymmetrical

Could it be a row of oil/gas pipes which submerge at the edge of the ice into the water?
Just a guess.
There does seem to be a pipeline roughly in that area if I am looking at this map correctly-

Could be, do not know how it works.. but the St Petersburg Flood-Prevention Facility is not the same place as what I pointed out.. but who knows perhaps there is a connection.

St Petersburg Sewerage-treatment-plant waste water.
Water comes from the water treatment plant and also from the nearby thermal power station.

You can get to see map overlays of the pipes by using Wikimapia.

Hope this helps solve your mystery.

could be from a water treatment plant?

they tend to dump the treated water far or in the closest body of water.

notice the water treatment plant right there? the high flow of water could explain why water is breaking the surface

You're right.

Wikimapia says in Russian: "A pipeline for discharge of treated water."

Maybe something to do with outrageius claim that St. Petersburg is the real Alexandria. Similar to the claim that Edinburgh is the real Jerusalem.

Agreed. This is unsettling to look at for some reason I can't explain.
