Very cool idea, but I have one question: Could the aircraft return to the sub carrier and land? It looks like a very short runway with just a launcher/catapult system

I had heard those subs were meant to rise up off the Pacific coast line of the U.S. and send the planes into the U.S. with biological weapons to drop, but they were called back to defend the homeland against invasion.

Nice submarine, but it seemed to have only suicide goal to attack Panama canal, as i see no chances for pilots to return with their planes to that small deck and refuel, arm. But sure as there was just one of those? It would have had huge fear value to such pop from nowhere and cause its damage and disapear as i doubt there was nothing to fire from Sub at that time "rockets".

But that surely shows interesting mindset to approve such wacky builds as its suicide mission for pilots or at least the planes, but at WWII numbers counted more.

A Submarine Carrier today? Sounds like an interesting idea, more a Science Fiction - but I think we need to go further here - an Aicraft Carrier that can become also a Submarine; meaning it can clear the deck and seal all the holes and DIVE!

It might be closer then you think. There is already plans to create UCAVS for existing US missile Submarines. They will even be able to launch while still under water like they do with missiles and be retreived when their mission is over.

There is also much more radical designs for underwater carriers but those would be much further in the future.

IMO the better option would be to load the sub with comandos and do some sabotage work = better chances.

Sabotage work was carried out by Japanese in few South American countries like Brazil by a group called " Black Dragon". Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay all set up their own internment camps.

This was really why we had the internment camps in the US Japanese Sabotage and espionage were a very real threat. In Los Angeles, a member of the Black Dragon, was found with a short-wave radio, maps of Hawaii’s fortifications, plans of the LA water supply system.

Los Angeles and its war industries could be crippled if the aqueduct system that supplies the water was sabotaged.
