using small explosives are placed in two engines that can reduce take off time down to two mins.

it called CART start

So these are used to start the turbines, not to provide thrust for takeoff, right? I can't have video currently.

That is my understanding, but might need Zaphod to confirm.

I am interested because I see parallels to turbochargers.

But maybe it's not a good idea to bomb start these.

Those aren't "bombs" those are technically known as gas generators--pretty much indistinguishable from small solid rocket motors. The rocket exhaust is directed on to one of the power turbine wheels to get it spinning up to a speed where the regular jet fuel can be injected and burn. From that point on, the engine spools up to its normal idle speed on jet fuel alone.

Bombs go "boom" rocket motors go "whoosh".

So this is what the APU does when I power up my (virtual) F18?

Spinning up the turbines with an electric motor but here it's done with lot's of gas-exhaust?

The father of SAC is smiling at this news.
In getting the BUFFs in the air , to Lemay , fast was never enough .

BTW , most likely to assist in "warming up" the engines .

Lemay would have them strapped to Tesla rockets and standing by fully crewed on launch pads by now.

Especially if the turbines are Chinese steel.

They aren't.

Built before china had electricity or running water.

(It's not really a 'bomb')

They aren't . Most were built before the 80s .
If they need something major now , they turn to "The Boneyard" .

It's called Cartridge Start (Cart Start), They started several aircraft that way, and Yes it is explosives.

Here is the Popular Mechanics article that has the OP video in it.

German Kruppstahl it is. Well actually it's Aluminium and cast iron mainly. But German. I source my turbos directly from the factory custom built in single parts and assemble them. There is no Chinesium inside.

But to get back to topic, there is a similar way to do this already, bleeding pressurized air onto the compressor wheel. It does not add a lot of pressure but helps overcome the momentum.

They are basically giant shotgun shells, they get the turbine speed up so they can start the engines without needing external air.

Giant pain the butt, hated using them but I see the need for birds sitting alert.

20th bomb sq crew chief exp more years ago than I care to count.

Oh and now imagine after a 10+ hour flight it lands and you have to hand scrub the area you connect the start cart of all the baked in gunpowder.

Added fun any static electricity when you try to pick it up and it becomes a rocket.
