CSTO to send collective peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan

Chairman of the CSTO Collective Security Council, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan referred to the situation in Kazakhstan and the application of that country to the CSTO.

Nikol Pashinyan particularly said, “Based on the application of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and due to the threats to the national security and sovereignty of Kazakhstan caused by also external interference, the CSTO Collective Security Council, in accordance with Article 4 of the Collective Security Treaty, decided to send CSTO collective peacekeeping forces to the Republic of Kazakhstan for a limited period aimed at stabilizing and resolving the situation in that country”.

The President stated that these terrorist gangs are in fact international one, which had serious training abroad and their attack on Kazakhstan should be considered as an act of aggression.

“In this regard, relying on the Collective Security Treaty, today I appealed to the heads of the CSTO states to assist Kazakhstan in overcoming this terrorist threat. In fact, this is no longer a threat - it is undermining the state integrity, and most importantly, it is an attack against our citizens, who request me as the Head of State to urgently help them. My constitutional duty is to take care of the well-being, safety and tranquility of our citizens. Therefore, I consider the appeal to the CSTO partners absolutely appropriate and timely. I believe that the people of Kazakhstan will support this decision. Together we will definitely win. As I have already said, terrorist gangs seized large infrastructure facilities. In particular, the Almaty airport along with about five aircrafts, including foreign ones. In fact, Almaty was attacked and suffered vandalism. Its residents have become victims of terrorist attacks, bandits. Therefore, it is our duty, including the Security Council members of the Republic of Kazakhstan present here, to take all possible actions to protect our state from an external threat,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

I have not seen the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, accused any countries of encroaching on the sovereignty of his country.


I know the Ukrainian political expert Dmitry Dzhangirov expressed an opinion - the President of Kazakhstan Tokayev obtained the greatest benefit from this unrest.

In his opinion, this gave Tokayev the opportunity to remove from office:
- (a former President of Kazakhstan) Nursultan Nazarbayev from the posts of 1) Chairman of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan and 2) Member of the Constitutional Council of Kazakhstan;
- (a nephew of Nursultan Nazarbayev) Samat Abish from the post of the First Deputy Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- and dismiss the government (which probably also consisted of people associated with Nazarbayev) and to appoint his proxies to the new government.

Units of the peacekeeping contingent perform tasks to protect vital facilities, airfields, and key social infrastructure facilities.

By agreement with the Kazakh side, servicemen of the CSTO collective peacekeeping forces are not involved in the ongoing operational and combat activities of local law enforcement agencies and army units to establish law and order in the country.

It is more than that. In the past several of us have written about the statements made by former high ranking Russian communists that defected to the U.S., Canada, or other countries.

One of them in specific, Anatoliy Golitsyn, wrote in 1984 a book about a plan the high ranking communist officials made, which would take decades, and in it he stated that they wanted to make it look like communism no longer controlled the Soviet Union. Golitsyn stated in his book that they would even topple the Berlin wall, that several countries that were part of the Soviet Union would seem to gain independence, but would have pro-Russian people in charge, and that they would make other changes. But that those former communist satellites of the Soviet Union will have people in power that are pro-communism, and eventually after they milked western nations of money they would once again put all former satellite Soviet states under the control of the Krenlim/Russia.

I am very familiar with Golitsyn, but was not aware of Bezmenov, I'll add it to my reading list.

Golitsyn was, and probably still is, required study in certain circles when I was a rook.
