He's a private citizen who will likely save (physically, not spiritually) our species, and has actually offered to help China with outdated rocket designs they stole from him simply so Chinese astronauts would not die due to stolen outdated nonworking schematics. Why complain?

And now the Chinese want to whine....lol

That was an incident with a bit of existing debris of which there is much , Dr Evil has so far added 1,600 additional bits low-Earth orbit flotsam to the mix with an option to expand that to up to 42,000.

Plus Starlink aren't the only player in the game so unless something is don'e about it the more there will be.

it's as if feakin space isn't big enough

If Musk is "Dr. Evil", what does that make China's leader, Xi Jinping?

If the concern is safety of orbital maneuvers and space debris, the Chinese have their own issues to sort out.

I'm guessing (hoping?) the premise of this thread is a tongue in cheek commentary on the Chinese complaint to the U.N.

"It has permission from US authorities to launch a total of up to 12,000"

What if each Satellites has a nuclear bomb?
each Satellites is 260 kg and 12,000 of them.

narmaly you have to launch a rocket in to space Then to earth.
but with Starlight you just fire it at earth.
it would be Very Fast....

America would never launch thousands of nukes into orbit all over the globe. 👀

On a more serious note space is over crowded, we need to get some real space sweepers up there, one good idea I will not begrudge China.

We need a space Rumba!

Make it so! ...Bezos, Musk, Dyson guy?

Starlink spacecraft have onboard propulsion and are placed in predictable orbits that are approved by licensing agencies.

That is as it may be but Starlink satellites have been found responsible for over half of the near misses this year and there are currently just a fraction of the satellites in orbit, they're also obscuring our radio and optical telescopes with clutter.

Its called move your station to another orbit then. The chinese are just mad they cannot control musk and are engineering these near misses on purpose to play victim.

Screw china and what it wants.

You have that right. China created more of a hazard than anybody with their a-sat test. Musk's satellites are on predictable orbits. They have to be in order for his system to work.

Sure, if you have the most spacecraft in orbit, you will almost certainly have the largest number of potential conflicts with other spacecraft. Those aren't necessarily "near misses". Trajectories of all tracked objects are routinely propagated forward in time by USSPACECOM a few weeks into the future so that the spacecraft operators can take appropriate actions. There are very few actual surprises with tracked spacecraft. As I said, it is the debris from ASAT tests and such like that can't be tracked very accurately that is the problem.

waiting for day (hopefully soon) Musk announces new STARLINK ground station that fits in your hand and retails for $19.99

Now that would really piss off the Chi Coms

He's a private citizen who will likely save (physically, not spiritually) our species,

I highly doubt that. This guy is way to deep in the tax payer trough. Best I can find is he is the richest man on the planet. Thanks mostly to the American tax payer. Oh and did he cough up that 6 billion to help save our species? He is only worth 289 billion. If he donated 6 billion to save the species he would only have 283 billion left. He might have to take out a loan or something. Great guy, in fact he is so great he was letting people play video games in his cars while they were driving. Of course he did give them "auto pilot". Even though it wasn't auto pilot, it was driver assist. But some times you gotta toot your own horn.

Don't you mean they probably tried to steal this guys design, Tom Mueller. Which the design was probably based on Russia engines to begin with. But he only hired Tom Mueller after he couldn't buy Russia rocket engines as cheap as he wanted.
Here is a little stunt the savoir tried to pull in in 2016. Forbes

I have no idea whether he is paying his fair share or not. I am not doing his taxes.

I have just made comments on what he has done. Of course I left out a bunch of stuff, I could dig deeper and find more I am sure. But off the top of my head, he is constantly running his mouth to jack up what ever he is invested in. That is what the 6 billion dollar feed the starving people of the world was about. Likes to call people pedo's when they point out his drone wasn't suited for the job at hand. Yeah the dude sounds like a great savoir of mankind.

But let me make a guess. You're all for the government helping rich people get richer, and stay rich after they blew it all. You're just not for the government helping people that aren't rich

I am broke as a joke for your information. I can care less about what a billionaire does with his money.
Notice i said "his" money.
This is all about JEALOUSY.
people wish they were him and since they are not they lash out over every little thing.
The man just gave more in taxes to the Government than ANY OTHER RICH MAN on the planet recently.
I am all for people making their own way. Musk was lucky and made it big.
I am also trying to get on disability as well and use food stamps so I am not against Government help when it is ACTUALLY NEEDED. (CAPS ARE FOR EMPHASIS ALONE)

Things like that are pretty tit for tat. ULA, Blue Origin, and others have also tried to route SpaceX on many fronts over the years as well.

This is all about JEALOUSY.

I simply hate people. I am a misanthrope, and for good reason. But that does not mean I don't have compassion for the human race. The worst of them are usually rich. Because they have complete disregard for other human beings. That is how they managed to accumulate their wealth. Case in point here is, his comment on twitter he would sell enough stock in his car company to fix the the world starvation problem. He is worth 289 billion dollars. He could have pulled that out of his back pocket and never noticed. He did that to jack his car shares. You will notice he has yet to hand over that 6 billion.

The man just gave more in taxes to the Government than ANY OTHER RICH MAN on the planet recently.

Are you doing his taxes? If not you have no way to know that. Unless he published his tax return in it's entirety. Even it made a statement declaring how much he paid in. People lie a lot, a whole lot, almost all the time. You might take note of my signature. People were the inspiration for that, and they never fail to make it a true statement.

Now I am off to work. Enjoy the real reality where a piece of garbage touts feeding millions of starving people so he can get richer.

yep how close is a "near miss" in space? shields at full power captain!
