With all due respect to your medical staff - I would seek alternate opinions.

My wife has suffered from this for some time but recently, after a period of near complete remission, it has become much worse. She, like you, has been to her primary, an internal specialist, a gastro, and a surgeon at the hospital where she works, and two neighboring University hospitals with reputable resources. Finding no solutions there she then spent a week at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota in the Division of Gastroenterology (Gonda Building).

Mayo told us that sensitivities/allergies can change at any time, although it is more likely in younger people. That does not rule out the possibility for someone her age, which we already knew since she had only recently developed an allergy to shrimp which she used to eat often with no problems at all. All forms of infection were ruled out. She endured various tests up to and including biopsy with no revealing results. The cause of her symptoms is still undiagnosed and thusly falls into the catch-all category of IBS. We are convinced IBS is what doctors say when they want to sound like they have an answer but they really have no idea what is wrong.

I wish you good health and good luck in finding a diagnosis/solution. If you do manage to find one please share it. There are many people with similar conditions that could benefit from the knowledge.

I had this issue in my 30’s. I narrowed it down to eating lots of SickDonalds. It was to close and convenient for a 30 min lunch time. Barely made it home most of the time. I thought it was the burgers for quite some time. I eventually narrowed it down even more, it was the Coke from their machines. Fun times

There's something about a Dr that will advise or suggest medicine that is derived of natural fruits, vegetables, and proteins/substances that if you knew what was for what, you could just eat it, drink it and be merry.

I eat blueberries when I get sour guts. YMMV

The primary difference is that your wife had previously suffered from these types of things and had gone into partial remission. I would not consider her relapse to be all that surprising. Although, her acquiring a new allergy to shrimp leads me to believe that her current symptoms may well be outside of the scope of her previous illness. I personally was able to eat whatever I wanted without any kind of symptoms at all for over 50 years, and I suddenly started having issues last year. I did have some acid reflux for much of my life, but that was related to the chemotherapy that I had in my 20s.

I have a lot of questions but will keep them short. Had your wife received any kind of vaccine, antibiotic, or other new medications immediately prior to her relapse? Had her diet changed from the one that had kept her in partial remission? And back to my initial question: could she have had a covid infection prior to the relapse?

The new shrimp allergy does lead me to the microplastic issue. Microplastics have been increasingly showing up in our seafood, as well as in our fruits and vegetables. If I am able to rule out covid, I will be going in the direction of exploring microplastics.

IBS is what doctors fall back on for these kinds of digestive issues when diagnostics fail to find anything. IBS itself likely has a number of different causes.

I ate a lot of fast food in my 20s, but since marrying my wife 20 years ago, nearly all of my meals have been made from scratch. She packs me meals to eat whenever I am working. We very rarely eat any restaurant food. Most often, that is limited to whenever we are travelling. We did enjoy ordering a pizza once a month, but I am no longer able to do that.

Growing up, my mother went overboard with the healthy eating. I think that is why I had my fast-food phase. I was deprived of sugar as a child as well, but fortunately I never acquired a taste for it later in life.

I'm fortunate that my primary doctor tries to address my health concerns through nutrition. Since developing these food issues, it has become more difficult for me to have a nutritionally complete diet.

I'll read and comment.
As far as this topic, I was told years ago I had GERD.
IBS was never mentioned.

Anything can cause sensitivities, for sure.
My doctor developed gluten intolerance while pregnant.
Whichever progressed to other foods.

No dietary changes, no pharma changes, no vaccines, no other illnesses. It just started again. Now mind you, there were no changes that caused the temporary remission either. It just seems to come and go as it pleases.

Once again we find ourselves limiting certain types of foods that are known to increase symptoms of IBS. Although that is the same treatment every single doctor advises regardless of the fact that IBS is just a catch-all phrase for people they cannot assign a more specific illness. Since the diagnosis is so generic, so are the results of this approach. Generic and limited.

We have kept food diaries, watched dairy, sugar, gluten, etc. Nothing is consistent. And that is the worst part of it.

My acid reflux seems to be aggravated by just about anything. Sometimes, it seems like just having a glass of water will do it.

I'm likely going to stay away from alcohol. I think some on here had noticed how bad I can get whenever I drink.

That seems to be my personal experience and is also common with sufferers I've talked with and in the literature I've read.

I hope she is able to get her symptoms under control. I'll be certain to update this board if I find anything of value.

I have had simular issues the last few weeks, hit or miss. Have typical fall/winter congestion, other than that, feel as normal as I ever do. Hmm.

Sorry to hear that you are having these problems as well. I know how bad it sucks and I do not wish them problems on anyone. My problems started last year after a bout of covid and have been fairly persistent ever since. Hopefully, yours will clear up and not be a recurring problem for you.

Thanks friend, I'ts not terrible for me, irritating though, on and off issues. Your thread made me pause to consider.

I got sick last week after eating, yakked it all up within 30 mins, had many bathroom visits that day in general. I was fine the next day though. Today I'm feeling a bit rough, just my gut. A lot of stress in my life too, so that factors in I'm sure. I'ts possible I have had the vid, but it would of been pretty mild.

I do hope you are feeling better soon, or it passes, have a good Christmas

Thank you and Merry Christmas to you as well.

That's the thing with covid, many people don't even know when they have it. But stress alone will often cause these kinds of symptoms, too.

This may be obvious and stupid to say but, when you sleep keep your upper body elevated with extra pillows. It will help to keep the acid in your stomach.
I’m pretty sure you already know that…..

I don't think it's stupid at all. That is some great advice, but I have problems sleeping and being elevated often keeps me awake.

Ingestion via lungs after being cured=stoned

Ingestion via digestion Raw not cured=cure most through modulation of the human ECS(endocannabinoid system) which regulates cellular homeostasis. Non-physcoactive btw. THC is illegal. THC-A legal status varies per state the employer sop..usually dependent on state law..Fed depending on size and industry. Wish you well!
