So I just saw this movie with my son, we both loved it. In my opinion as a Spiderman fan starting in the 70's the Sony/MCU/Holland story line continues to be the best Parker/Spiderman amalgam we've had so far. Your mileage may vary.

I'd love to discuss it with other people but I don't want to drop any spoilers yet. The first credits cookie bugged me and I was hoping there were some people familiar with the character in that scene that could explain something to me.

Well at the very least it created a break for the movie discussion...

So I have not watched either Venom movie, and still have no interest in them, but I have to know... does the Tom Harding/Brock have a Spiderman in his universe and does he know his alter ego is Parker? Because that is the only reason he should have been in the cookie, right? I didn't think they mixed Spiderman and Venom in the latest batch of movies. So it should have been the Topher Grace/Brock, right?

I mean I know they want to milk the Venom cashcow as much as possible, but a little consistency would be good.

Both Venoms were fine for what they were. Think of them as monster movies.

The new Spiderman was cool. I had fun watching it.

Something I discovered: front row center is not the best seats for 3D viewing. My fault for not buying tickets sooner.

Overall, I give the movie a solid 7.5 - 8.0. I'm looking forward to buying the Blu-Ray.

Spoiler Alert!

I think my favorite line in the movie is when Osborne says, "You know, I'm something of a scientist myself." Must be just me, though. I didn't hear anyone else in the theater laughing.

Well he was repeating the line was in the first Spidey movie too, or has the meme been so popular and I am misremembering

Yeah he says that in the first movie.

I liked it, but I felt the first half's pacing was awkward, and the introduction of Maguire and Garland felt rushed and kind of forced.

Now that I think about it, it felt like more of a filler movie than anything. Like it was less about the story of this specific movie, and more about setting up the next arc.

Which, in that case I would say it was successful. I am really excited about Holland's next Spider Man movie. I can't wait to see what Peter Parker gets into as a newly indepent adult balancing work and Spider Man, and the introduction of a new Venom actor.

Speaking of which I recently saw that Andrew Garland is getting his third Spider Man movie , and it seems like it's going to have Venom in it as well.

In regards to the 'filler feeling', this was the movie where they had to continue the story for Peter but likely had to remove Aunt May, Ned and MJ from the franchise due to the actor's contracts expiring after a commitment to three movies. (That's my guess anyways.)

It will be interesting to see if Batalon/Ned cameos in any Dr. Strange movies, though.

I haven't watched any Garfield movies from beginning to end. I saw the scene from his first movie where he was taunting Flash with the basketball then slam-dunked to shatter the backboard and that turned me off from his movies. The Peter Parker I grew up with is not a showboat and wouldn't make any type of spectacle like that, especially when he was initially figuring out his powers.

I've heard it was really good but since I haven't seen all the other spiderman movies I'm not heading to the theater for this one.

But...

I'm happy it's making so much money in theaters to prove that when you make good movies people will watch them.
No more excuses for other superhero flops.

The scene that bothered you was a weird attempt by Sony to organically plant seeds for a future character arc. If you know what I mean.

Yeah, I think it would be cool if they took that oath with Ned. He's a likeable actor/character

Oh I know that's what they wanted to do. What I'm wondering is *how* they brought Brock/Venom into the movie as if they knew who Peter Parker was? That was the entire gist of the movie...
