What if our primordial 'god', whom created us in His image is the Devil?

We consume everything.

We wage war.

We enslave.

We murder.

We steal.

We lie.

We are capable of immeasurable evil on both micro and macro scales.

We consume life in order to sustain our own.

We eat the living as we see fit to satisfy our hunger.

We burn trees to keep ourselves warm.

What if we are the epitome of evil in the cosmos?

Just a thought.

^_^

If you look at the way the entire "cosmos" work it is based on destruction and renewal. Celestial objects are created and destroyed. Their destruction forms new objects.

It is the nature of the universe to create and then kill to form new more spectacular objects.

We are no more evil than the universe that we exist in.

I actually think the whole thing is beautiful.

Give us an alternative hypothetical scenario where in another world the dominant species climbed to the top of a 5 billion year deep corps pile of extinct species and didn't do it like we did.

ETA: Make it detailed, I have all day.

Trees.

They've been around longer than we have, and all they consume beyond CO2 and water is the dying organic matter laying at its feet, freely given, not taken.

They live only to be fruitful in many ways.

And they're doing fine today, despite our effect on their depletion.

Sorry to disappoint in the short answer, but that's how I see it.

I might have misunderstood, but did you just refer to the human species as dominant? LOL

As oppose to? Are you getting dominance confused for abundance? Simply being able to scratch a line in dirt and have another monkey understand makes man dominate. Nothing else even comes close and the bar is really really low.

With aliens all bets are off but here on good old battle field earth man is king. Because we stack rocks.

Nature has always been able to balance itself until mankind decided to make 'improvements' and throw a monkey wrench into the mix.
Mankind is responsible for creating things that don't 'renew', such as nuclear waste, plastics in our oceans and food supplies, man-made fertilizers, becoming a toxic soup of chemicals with which to nourish us.
Nature is harmonious; man is not and has disrupted nature's ability to do its job.....for now.

Just a thought.

Quit thinking .
The evil is by choice and covered in Exodus and the Ten Commandments .
The rest is God given .

Who is this "we" you speak of in your list?

Because personally, I don't do any of those besides burn dead trees to keep myself warm... before Mother Nature burns them.

Free will baby...

Try it sometime.

I entertain the bizarre notion sometimes that we're under the control of a demi-god that sits above us and below God. It allows my mind to make sense of the world, history and some scripture when I look at things from that angle. It fits when God appears to be imperfect.

maybe another species made the mankind.
( go upstairs, to the lab and find him).

maybe that implied a creation from something existent, like clay mud.

mankind can make both extremes: good and evil.
someones said to not go to any extreme.

the questions are:
if pure evil can generate pure goodness?
if pure goodness can generate pure badness?

and if we dont know all the time and causes at a moment, we can not see if that aparent evil is really a goodness.

for example, a buddhist teaching about a woman hitting her son all night.
an occidental mind could thing that it is an evil action,
when in reality the mother is saving the boys life that was bit by a tse-tse, and she keeps him await to avoid his death if he sleeps.

so, an apparent evil action is really a goodness.

is interesting that the "commandments" and the "apple in the tree in the heaven" are written in negative way "dont do this..." when the creative mind dont process the word "no" and unconsciously is understanting "do this".
or maybe, those were changed during this time...
as a lot of things have been changed...

the negative way of the sentences gives possibility to consider a subcreator.

maybe there were a creator, then a subcreator, that could explain a lot of the behavior in humanity.
well, at least that was what all the ancient traditions about the creation said...

not the modern ones...

When you consider Lucifer is the ruler of this Earth according to the Bible, then your notion is based in reality. That demigod does sit below God and rules over all we see so that we freely choose God and the message, the "word". Free will will allow that we get a good chance to see both sides of the situation so we will be able to freely choose to make each of our choices on right and wrong.

Is there ever going to be something wrong with the message of Love and forgiveness of one another being all that is required of us?
We will be forgiven based on how we forgive others is the message of the "Lord's prayer". None of us are perfect. it is true that "there is always time to change the road you're on".

Well... said "devil" doesn't really seem to be the bad guy in the OT... at least in comparison to the OT god

On the other hand... gnostic literature says the OT god IS the devil

and even the NT says he rules this world

Were we created or did we come from something else?

Personally I believe creation over anything else but my belief does not make that true as my faith without proof is just a belief. Perhaps humans created the devil and it is humans that can bend and change human perspective of human reality.
