Give us an alternative hypothetical scenario where in another world the dominant species climbed to the top of a 5 billion year deep corps pile of extinct species and didn't do it like we did.
ETA: Make it detailed, I have all day.

If you look at the way the entire "cosmos" work it is based on destruction and renewal. Celestial objects are created and destroyed. Their destruction forms new objects.
It is the nature of the universe to create and then kill to form new more spectacular objects.
We are no more evil than the universe that we exist in.
I actually think the whole thing is beautiful.

What if our primordial 'god', whom created us in His image is the Devil?
We consume everything.
We wage war.
We enslave.
We murder.
We steal.
We lie.
We are capable of immeasurable evil on both micro and macro scales.
We consume life in order to sustain our own.
We eat the living as we see fit to satisfy our hunger.
We burn trees to keep ourselves warm.
What if we are the epitome of evil in the cosmos?
Just a thought.

I entertain the bizarre notion sometimes that we're under the control of a demi-god that sits above us and below God. It allows my mind to make sense of the world, history and some scripture when I look at things from that angle. It fits when God appears to be imperfect.
