What you are suggesting in my experience is true and the more you do it the better you get. When notes were the thing in buying groceries, I would hand them a ten and get change for a twenty. I stopped doing it after a while because the checkout girl would get into trouble. But the same principle applies to many things. I think it is something to do with hunting game . Something primordial which we don't use anymore.

First-off : personally don't even have a solid understanding of what Wiki-leaks actually is.
Are they a team of supposedly independent journalists and hackers, digging crud up, and releasing it raw as they find it ?
Or do they withhold some stuff ?

Have always had a difficult time with the concept of ' Wikileaks™ ', and many other types of ' leaks ', in general.

Especially when involving the idea that some of that supposedly leak-worth material : was held-on to for some period of time, either as a hedge, deadman-switch, life-insurance, or whatever.

It's understandable when the release of said material could lead to imprisonment, but that could happen in any case, if that is what they want. Fake charges can be drummed-up on short-notice.

There is so little attention paid to these things.
Same as the Panama papers, and other similar leaks, that should have the general population in rebellion.

Nobody cares.
So who wants to stick their neck out, for a mass of humanity that is content in it's indentured slavery ?

Certainly no me.
Because no matter how loud you shout : people don't want none of it.

So don't get yourself banned, first of all.
Look for others whom understand.
Try to be nice to everyone, including the NPCs.

And wonder who leaked the Wikileaks to us, and why now.

Well, most people don't want to sacrifice their way of life over their perception.

Because the sad reality is there are very few truths in life. It's more of a spectrum, A may be more truthful than B, or this article may be more dry and void of opinion than that one... But we've seen crazy things in the last ten years. Hindsight has shown the most unlikely of sources to have been right. But in the moment is almost always blurry.

So I don't expect people to say "that's it, I've had enough" until they are in a place of discomfort. We still may be a ways away from that. Right now you could have a job paying 35k a year with a decent safe place to live, a cell, and internet. Real change typically only happens in time of despair.

So just same old same old? Podesta and Hillary emails were definitely out before. No worries I have fallen for the "new wiki leaks dump" in the past - but just double checking - it was a misunderstanding right ?

It must be considered that the Assange extradition and ostensible records dump are controlled opposition. It would make sense, from their position, to release the data themselves. That way they control what is released, and also have the ability to include/initiate false narratives. The fake alien agenda is a prime example.

IF there was a new dump, You would see it all over social media and at some news organizations.

This is the old stuff, claimed as new again, like has happened so many times before.

Assanges only mistake was revealing his identity

Using the Dark Web should have made it possible to continue poking US government losers in the eye without risking their persecution

You’re very naive if you honestly think the dark web gives any form of protection from prosecution.. it may be more difficult to find you, but if they want, they can and will.

In fact if i were an alphabet agency i'd create a dark web environment just so i could observe and identify those i'd otherwise have to search the whole web for.
