This did not seem a big deal to me, I don't really use anything Amazon. I barely use the internet outside of ATS and eBay honestly and only when I find a public hotspot. What did strike me as odd, is when I saw a map on a website, it looked like all the states I saw on the Emergency alert system test I posted about yesterday. That's quite a coincidence, but I'm sure it's exactly that, a coincidence. The article on RT even says McDonald's app and Disney plus are down as well

(Reuters) -Amazon.com Inc's services including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Prime Video and its namesake e-commerce website were down for thousands of users on Tuesday, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com.
Downdetector, which showed more than 14,000 incidents of people reporting issues with Amazon, tracks outages by collating status reports from a number of sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform.

The outage might be affecting a larger number of users.

"We are experiencing API and console issues in the US-EAST-1 Region," Amazon said in a report on its service health dashboard, adding that it has identified the cause and was working to resolve the issue.

Ahhh, that explains it. Was about to put my tablet on Airplane Mode and toss it out the window to make it fly.

Tried using IMDB .Com to look up one movie and I got that picture of the "INCONCEIVABLE" Actor stating they were having issues.

Had trouble making an order this morning myself. The pages would load, but many times they would be blank (no products, even though I had only resorted).

I managed to get my order placed, but now I think I need to check the confirmation e-mail...

No email confirmation, but I was able to check my orders and it's there.

Man finally I got it up. That map covers almost all the states I saw under yesterday's emergency alert system that inposted about andnlinked in op. This began at 8am Pacific (11am eastern) and interestingly enough also coincided with the conclusion of Biden and Putin's virtual summit.

Coincidences are funny.

Well he is spot on. I mean really, I just enjoy going to the store and interacting with humans. I even often don't buy anything but like to see what is available. I may want or need it later.

Being rural I enjoyed the ease of prime delivery but it has gotten to the breaking point for me so I cancelled it.

We were getting over 75% of our items well over the suggested delivery time.
Now I’m finding that Amazon really isn’t cheap, it’s actually much more expensive than other sites, and sometimes significantly more expensive than local.

I thought it was working fine here in Seattle, but certain aspects of the site are not consistently loading- for example, looking at past purchases and clicking on "buy again" may or may not bring up a picture of a dog (error) or the product. seems to be more glitchy than not in that part of the shopping experience. Other sections seem fine...

You must not be as rural as I am. Without Amazon, most of the stuff I buy would mean an hour drive, each way. Some would be a 4 hour drive, again each way.

Amazon has been a Godsend to me.

Perhaps, but you are also wealthier than most of us on ATS, and we do know you have worked very hard for it. Maybe consider hiring a local neighbor from town who can do the runs for you instead?? I bet they, and the local businesses would certainly be more grateful for it. They may even vote for you as mayor or county commissioner, not that you have any such ambitions...

I think most of you are missing the impact of what's impacted by AWS b3ing down. So much more than just Amazon being down. AWS hosts servers in the cloud. AWS is the biggest player controlling 33% of the cloud. All of my company's servers are hosted by AWS and luckily it was more of a sporadic outages not a major impact but completely knocking out AWS could be damn near catastrophic with the amount of things that they host including government and military things.
