Author and UFO researcher Richard Dolan tells the story of the event that's become know among UFOlogists as 'The Helen Wheels Abduction'.
Helen Robbins, who passed away in 2000, was the sister of Dolan's close friend Peter Robbins. In 1961, Helen and Peter had an encounter in the front
yard of their home on Long Island, New York. I believe Helen was 12 and Peter was 14 years old.
As adults, Peter became a UFO researcher, Helen went on to become a punk-rock musician, "Helen Wheels". She was good friends with the members of the
band Blue Oyster Cult, and dated drummer Albert Bouchard . She co-wrote lyrics on BOC's album "Agents of Fortune", which had a song titled "E.T.I.
(Extra Terrestrial Intelligence)".
IMO this is a great story. Dolan does his usual awesome interview, asking pertinent questions and making the interviewee feel at ease. There are some
truly fascinating accounts of Peter recalling being hypnotized, and describing the super high-strangeness of the event. I showed the video to a friend
who was hesitant because the abduction subject scares the hell out of her, but she agreed it was fascinating, and has told some friends that "You
have to watch it!"
Nice interview. Whatever the truth, Robbins is a good interviewee despite admitting he regularly "tripped my brains out" after the incident.
I assume Robbins has recovered from the unpleasant spat and public 'divorce' from co-author Larry Warren after the 'Left At East Gate' debacle
concerning the Rendlesham Forest case. Although I have had my fill of Rendlesham - the continuous lies and morphing stories in that case over forty
years would test the patience of a saint - one of the more interesting and comparatively unknown oddities is the story of Robbins and Warren
witnessing UFOs together at Rendlesham.
An excerpt from an alleged audio recording as it happened...
LARRY WARREN: Peter, this #in' thing has moved into the woods, its coming closer
PETER ROBBINS: It is closer, isn't it.
LW: It's coming towards us, I can't believe this #.
PR: We're seeing it clear as a bell, we're seeing the tree line above it. It did it instantly. It...
LW: People, please believe, whoever hears this tap, we we're seeing a UFO subtly move, a spacesh... Is coming to us.
Not sure how this helps us appreciate (or not appreciate) his 1961 story, but I'll throw it out there.
Whether the OP is the first 'Grey' alien story is open to debate, dependent on when and how the story was first recounted to others. Officially in
Ufology, the first Grey was not publicly reported until the late-60s and thereafter only very rarely until the 'Communion' boom of the late-80s;
before then, alien descriptions usually resembled a bizarre menagerie of species from the sublime to the ridiculous.
Thanks for posting this story, I can't believe I've never heard it before. That was a very compelling case and I think Dolan did a good job with that
interview. Sad and untimely end to Helen, very talented girl that was.
