From experience in Afghanistan from some of your best, ever word written is 100% true.

I flew your boys into some # and every one of them came out of there having put in work.

Got one guy back with PKM rounds through his hand, shoulder, and chest still running on his own two feet to my helicopter. His buddies patched him up on the way back to base. I saw him 8 weeks later in full gear ready to go on another day trip on my bird. We were pretty sure he wasn't 100% healed but there he was.

I understand that the SOF community does things differently but that put some # into perspective for me. Also gave me a lot of respect for the British soldier.

British commandos? Edit: Oops, apparently Royal Marines, not commandos. Mea culpa.

Don't get much better then that.

If ya gotta surrender, training or otherwise, might as well surrender to good ones.

Some embarrassed Marines got chewed on, I would venture to guess.

When's the rematch--I'm fairly certain there are some Marines lookin' forward go it...

You learn more from the losses than you do the wins...

The US military learned a lot from Vietnam, and it showed in Iraq, and early in Afghanistan. Then the military forgot, as did the leadership(?), those lessons...

Guess what...?

They're learning 'em again. In a decade or so, I'd venture to guess that those lessons will, again, be ingrained.

You fight a war to win. Period. Then you leave. You don't nation build.

Look at any war since 1945.

The US has the strength, the UK has the brains.

Be fair. If it wasn't for the French, the yanks would still be British.

Well worth remembering, I would think.

I have a few Brits as friends, including one former Royal Marine who saw a lot of action in places that apparently don't exist, he's better part of 80 now, but not sure I'd mess with him even so...

Once upon a time, the sun never sank. There's a reason. It would do well to remember that.

Our President leaves our troops in foreign countries , poops his pants on TV and goes on random hair sniffing blackouts. Who cares about a bunch of grunts playing war.

J/K Congrats

I read a cool quote from a German soldier many years ago about watching the British fight on the frontline. Excuse me if you know the saying and I butcher it.

The one German soldier said : Look at those men , they’re like lions
2nd German soldier : Lions led by Donkeys.

Think they were calling the British Generals donkeys

I imagine the rematch will be over here in Great Britain, it was set in a US desert this time, the closest thing to a soulless desert we have here is parliament!!

Given that the Worlds Strongest Man is right now British and at the same time the top boxer on Planet Earth is also British (well British Irish gypsy but all the same) then statistically considering that Brits make up less than 1% of the population of this planet then there must be something more than pure chance that they can take on the US Marines and give them a good run for their money

We'd probably use the Warcop Training Area in the Pennines , cold and bleak so we'd likely win the rematch too.

To be fair all the same, our Royal Marine Commandos have always been able to take on all comers and give them a run for their money no matter where they hail from around the globe.

Did you ever watch this ?

On 28 March 1942, British forces launched one of the most daring operations of the Second World War. Now known as “The Greatest Raid of All”, Operation Chariot was an attack on the docks at St Nazaire in German-occupied France. It was a feat of cunning and daring that helped to shape the war at sea

Remarkable.

I have no love for the U.S. marine Corps.
They're an organization that has out lived their usefulness. And a country having two standing armies is financially stupid.

That said,
This was a training exercise. It's good for marines to get their backside handed to them now and again. Maybe they'll start thinking more and strutting less. Creased uniforms, flexing at yourself in the mirror and "knife hand" don't win wars.

Even when you when in these training events. You still take away something that you could've done beter or more effectively, or more efficient.

You don't get to "reset" reallity.

Good on the U.K. Thank you for sharing and showing us how it's done.👍 Glad and proud you're on our side. I hope it will always be so.
