OMG, if this isn’t dang spot on for the United States I don’t know what is.

www.history.com...

1. Invasions by Barbarian tribes

2. Economic troubles and overreliance on slave labor

3. The rise of the Eastern Empire

4. Overexpansion and military overspending

5. Government corruption and political instability

6. The arrival of the Huns and the migration of the Barbarian tribes

7. Christianity and the loss of traditional values

8. Weakening of the Roman legions

Every single one of these items hits home… Here are my thoughts
#1 Refugees, Illegal Aliens
#2 Service industry crumbling
#6 I think is Covid
#8 Lack of patriotism as a whole nation

Decadence, overindulgence was absolutely a part of it. Some even blame feminism…

On my social media feeds I often see things for Hoarders, or my 1000lbs show, or absolute debauchery.
It is all sensationalized, these people are celebrities…

The dumbing down of the majority. Sweeping apathy and confusion.

Its a perfect storm.

When a society turns to a consumer based society, it doesn't last too long. We have to start making things in this country that we need to survive. That is one of the major reasons for the fall of the Roman empire, they turned into a consumer based society and were dependent on other countries for their foods and necessities which led to a colapse of their economy as their suppliers cut them off.

This is in some old history books, but our countries leaders never paid attention to it, they thought they could make consumerism work even though every empire that did it collapsed within fifty years.

Were bad actors also funded by sinister interests that benefited from its destruction?

If so, who were those groups?

Wow, great observations. Especially Afghanistan known as the graveyard of empires. But ultimately the breakdown of the family, all the ills do that. The family ...The Tribe....The Country. If it gets too big and becomes an Empire that might be the thing that causes the days to be numbered.
We should consider a saying credited to the Basque...We don't want to be Tyrants and we don't want to be slaves...They have been around for quite a while.

Isn't this really just the cycle of society? Keeping religion out of it, and all that comes with that, I don't think we will ever "slough off" what humans do. I don't even know that transhumanism will stop this. The silver lining is that after these falls, after the people have been compelled into humility, there seems to be semi-golden years.

We are too big. Too much divisive culture. Country led by a giant nasty beast with two backs that enjoys running laps around all its worker drones.

We will weather the storm, fracture and reunite into something better with a stronger foundation. The family has been here over 300 years and encompass all good and bad points of history. We are a melting pot family of the world, and will exist long after lines have been redrawn.

Our biggest hurdle is that were too proud and willfuly ignorant. We aren't better than anyone else, and we've taken a lot of time to get to where we are now. But we're no bastion, the necessity for patriotism died when we became a corporation. This isnt the country that was founded under the same name.

I don't vote for the two party system for this reason, and the destruction of that system is a threat to all the talking heads. I'm not advocating anything, but we know what will eventually need to be done, or else the common fabric of this country will have toiled for nothing for generations.

The destruction of the USA, however, has been deliberately orchestrated and played out over decades, and we are blindly falling into the same traps that doomed the Romans (and other empires).
