As you can see in the bottom transcript notes of page 4 this is fully confirmed by Haspel herself! Also, why they mention Saturn so much is unknown to me as Juno is orbiting Jupiter.

Knowledge should be free and not hidden to a select few. # them for trying. Yes, I know that's hypocritical given the past 12 years of my life. Maybe this penance will forgive me of my sins and the death I have caused.

If it is real and there is a hole through the center, why would it be from impact? Could be a drive system.

It might not be that damaged after all.

Puts me in mind of a story by Vonnegut, ''The Sirens of Titan''.

Radio emission and subsequent development of investigation from Earth
Ancient ship found in ice of Titan and subsequent investigation.
A hatch is discovered and upon opening the ship come back on line

Ships computer claims ship is millions of years old when a ''wangfoodle'' wears out and needs replacement
Ship finds the third planet is suitable for evolution of complex life and instigates a probe of that planet which saturates the planet with bio-organisms that over millions of years will evolve into a species capable of high tech and space flight.

The earthlings ask the ship if they can help. Ship says you already have. In your propulsion system you have ''part ''5xcp3o'' and it's backup copy in storage.

They take the backup part, replace the broken ''wangfoodle'', the ship fires up it's engines and flies away leaving the earthlings to ponder the true nature of their existence.

There's a lot of problems with this.

For one, the flyby looks fake as #. Like I've seen more convincing animation in video games.

The estimate that it's been there for "hundreds if not thousands of years" sounds completely made up to sound sensational. How exactly would they know how long it has been there? We haven't had an ability to detect something this small this far away until recently. You can sometimes estimate how long something has been at a certain location in the solar system by the number of impact marks on its surface. They'd need a lot more detailed images than the ones shared here to even make a vague guess like "hundreds or thousands of years." I don't think Juno's cameras have that resolution. It was designed to take pictures of much larger objects where that kind of resolution wouldn't be needed.

He says the object "emits no radiation, no heat." Heat is a form of radiation so saying that is redundant. Layman who don't really have much scientific knowledge will say things like this to sound smart. It's exactly the kind of mistake you'd expect a hoaxer to make. He then says the object emitted a 6-second "signal," which the OP characterized as FM. That is also a form of radiation. So does it emit radiation or not? This is also a classic hoaxer mistake. The entire thing is lies and they can't keep the lies straight.

Would be an awesome story if true (well not so awesome for Walter and this guy). But it reads like such a textbook hoax that it might be satire.

Right on the heels of me looking up that old Mars Crab/Tree/Thing thread.

Do tell...

6 year old thread, but cool as hell. Let me go find the link again and edit it in.

Edit: here you go! Sun like 'stone' on mars

I don't want to go off thread, but I just looked at your old post and everyone seemed to pooh pooh the post. But, they all missed an obvious flaw. If you look at the rocks, the shadows they are casting is as if the sun were behind them to the left a bit. But if you look at the rock to the upper right above the "anomaly" the shadow it casts it's as if the sun is coming from the rear far right.

How exactly would they know how long it has been there?

Actually that can be easily done with a turboencabulator.

Well I don't have one of those. I've been considering selling my flux capacitor so I can afford one.

Do you not find it funny, or better suspicious, that in the early 1970s the US was bragging on TV that they had cameras in space that could read the headlines off a newspaper. Yet since then they can't get clear images of Mars or the Earth. As for google maps, take a look at Antarctic. That aint camera glitches or bad pixelization, half the continent has been blurred.

Why would anyone waste the money taking high resolution imaging of millions of square miles of ice?

Good story! I was thinking more of James Hogan's "Giants" series, beginning with the finding on the moon, of a desiccated human body in a space suit of unknown design. Then they find out the corpse carbon-dates to ~50,000 years ago...

The Gentle Giants of Ganymede. Oh boy that was a solid novel. I ended up reading the whole series as well as becoming a Hogan fan. His ''Thrice Upon a Time'' was one of the first novels I read that offered serious considerations to the concept of time travel.

The thing that got me about that Vonnegut novel was that up until the point of reading it, most of my sci/fi readings had been where humans were the protagonists, the heros, the ever expanding presence based on our superiority. This book turned that on it's head and made us out to be no more than just a momentary useful tool in the cosmos, now turned and obsolete tool that that. Hence it set me on a course of becoming an avid reader of Vonnegut.

Well why take high resolution photos of the other half of Antarctic.

I have no idea.

Maybe they were gonna do the whole continent and realized what a waste of time it was partway through. Maybe the parts that have better res are closer to the areas where we have research stations and were just captured superflously. Without knowing more details of exactly how they do their mapping there's no way to know.

That's far from proof they didn't do the whole continent to hide something though. There's no indication of that, it's literally just made up out of thin air.

I could say they didn't do it because I told them not to. I have just as much evidence for my claim as you do for yours. Zero equals zero.

The thing that puzzles me is the "strong signal for 6 seconds".

Where did the power come from?
Who was it aimed at?
Will they come to investigate?

Probably the same place as the radio signal from Jupiter , electrons in the atmosphere.

The question you should be asking is how this thing that "doesn't emit radiation" sent out a "strong signal for 6 seconds."

But the photographic evidence that seems to be missing could prove the existence of that global warming religion thing. I think they would want the rest of the continent imaged for scientific study unless that disproves their religion or they are covering up for something else.

I'm not sure it would (although I'm sure they would say it does) because, from what I've read about ice sheet cover, the thickness is far more important than the extent. Satellite photos wouldn't tell you the thickness of the ice.
