So did ya sign up yet?

I probably won't. I don't use social media.

I've been thinking all these years the AboveTopSecret.com forum is "Social Media". Is that incorrect?

His threads would be deleted, posts would be removed and he'd be banned quick, he says mean things about people.

(post removed for political trolling and baiting)

( post removed for serious manners violation)

And his profile avatar would be blank and a squiggly line

Eh, I suppose it fits the definition, but I still see it as an old school forum. Not really a hill I'd die on, maybe I'm hair splitting on that though.

We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced.

JFK rolling in his grave right now.

If this is basically just a campaign financing machine then f*** that noise because this was supposed to be about protecting American free speech in social media, not furthering his career.

So, he protects American free speech in social media by doing what? Sitting in the background and remaining silent as Twatter, Fascistbook and others shut him down?

Is that's what you got from my post?

It was a comment meant more towards ATS than Trump. Unless you think he deserves more leeway than just us everyday citizens. He puts his britches on just like me and if I get posts removed or banned for violating terms, then he should to, former president or not. Trump can't help himself, it's just the way he is.

I see that written sarcasm is still a problem here. Here is a clue that it was sarcasm " he says mean things" and if he was to say those things here like on the other sites he was banned from, you would see the quotes I posted, I know you have seen them in other threads.

And yet, the fricken TALIBAN and the Ayatollah are openly allowed a presence on leftist social media platforms

I guess rape, misogyny, hate and intolerance is acceptable to leftists (they certainly don’t seem against it)

The biggest lie ever told was “Orange Man Bad”. The exact opposite happens to be true

You forgot pedophilia, terrorism and public beheadings/sacrifice.

I'm not holding out hope. Mike Lindell tried something, but I never saw any action out of it. It turned out to be, as far as I can tell, a personal platform for him. That's not something I care to get involved with.

Here's what Trump must do in order to make this work, from my perspective:
  • It must be free. Paid social media is not going to go far when one is competing against other free social media sites (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, ATS).

  • It must be inclusive. I don't want to just hear what Trump thinks... I want to hear what people think. Not just conservatives even... I want to hear everyone, even if I disagree with them. Plus, Facebook and Twitter became giants in the industry because they were inclusive at one time. They served a purpose: allow people to stay connected and share photos/videos with people they know from afar.

  • It must be fair. Becoming the opposite of Facebook or Twitter (as in, censoring left-wing posts) won't cut it for me. I'm not interested in joining an echo chamber. If there's an echo, I want to be sure it's real, not some forced narrative based on censorship.
If he can do that, he might have something. Now, there are some things he could do that might bring more people on board, providing the above conditions are met:
  • Get lawmakers involved. Now, granted, it would probably be only conservative lawmakers at this point, since the progressives don't like anything they can't control, but having the ear of lawmakers, even minority lawmakers, would be quite the draw. The advantage to the lawmakers would be a chance to talk directly to the people.

  • Start forums to let average people state their ideas and reservations on specific issues, and open those ideas up for discussion.

  • Encourage users to get involved in their local political offices and encourage them to report back on what they're doing.
In short, this could be a good idea, if done properly. If done improperly, it will be a disaster just like the others that came before him.

The only thing I belong to are "old school" forums, like ATS. That's OK if I'm not a Social Media user. I like being "different" in aspects of life and living, so how I "socialize" online can be different than 95% of the world too.

Cool!

Liberals and RINO's are all over the damn place online. I'm hoping the Trump social media site at least has a section for Patriotic Conservatives to interact with each other in peace. (Something like the Q thread here on ATS) But it would be accessible for posting by invite only.

Hasn't happened to me yet and I am way further out there then the average badger. Hell I was even thinking about authoring a thread in the philosophy/metaphysics forum (which would be a first for me) pondering the question, "Does the cold ass beer think about me as much as I think about them?"
Also was thinking about a new showing of a painting that involves the suicide of a favorite child hood disney character because I am a cynic and an asshole.
If "The Donald" posted here it would be a great unabashed look into the guy assuming he writes his own ops I couldn't imagine he would be banned by anyone even if he does say "schlong" excessively.

Hey you know what? I got a beer for you bro

Ha haa. Yep, something like that.

But more to the point, you want to be able to hear opinions that you don’t agree with?!?!
You don’t want those opinions silenced and canceled?!?!

I’m betting you’ll like the new platform then. The vast majority of conservatives want exactly the same thing

He better hire really good cyber security company to protect the website. I can see people on the left paying off hackers to attack it.

What made me extremely angry with President Trump's Twitter communications were the 100 or so organized idiots who would fill up the Responses to his Tweets with hateful, or childish, or threatening statements.

I hope this new platform will ban those useless distracting psychopaths.

Liberals and RINOs also have their own echo chambers, where they isolate themselves from the bulk of the country. Why would anyone want to do that? Answer: most wouldn't. Most people want someplace they can post their actual thoughts without worrying about being censored.

Believe it or not, I never considered myself a "conservative." "Conservative" is one who opposes change; I do not oppose change. I oppose poorly considered change; change for the better is a good thing. I want us to have a welfare program! I just don't want it to become a social safety hammock instead of a social safety net. I also want it more inclusive and more responsive to the actual needs of people instead of just throwing money at them.

I would love to have universal health care! Maybe that's an idea whose time has come... but it has to be sustainable and truly universal. I am literally too poor to get help from Obamacare. "You don't make enough to qualilfy for help" should be something that is never, ever, uttered again.

I'm actually good with abortions... as long as they are done as soon as practical to minimize any suffering and not used as birth control. Do I like the idea of an abortion? No, never, under any circumstances. But I also don't want babies being thrown into dumpsters by their mothers, back alley abortions, or any of the horrors that come with an absolute ban.

I strongly support legalization of recreational marijuana nationwide. There's another idea whose time has come.

Those are not conservative stances (I don't think; labels tend to shift meaning so damn fast now-a-days). But I am considered a conservative here and now. In my youth, I was a flaming liberal... and I have not changed any of my views. I actually started watching "All in the Family" re-runs a few days ago... brought back memories of the days when I was a liberal. I still tend to stand with "Meathead" on 80% of everything he says, and I still think Archie Bunker is a fool in the first degree.

So what happens when some idiot in the GOP decides to change a platform plank that I can't agree with? Do I lose my "conservative card" and get kicked off? I don't want to be a part of anything like that. That's why I am on ATS: I can speak my mind freely without fear of consequences as long as I keep it civil. My membership is not contingent on being liberal enough or conservative enough.

Maybe the U.S. server could be backed-up and mirrored outside the United States, like Steve Bannon did in order to keep the Hunter Biden laptop stuff online (gtv.org).

As I said, I'm not all that hopeful, been disappointed too many times. But if it turns out that way, I will be a part of it.

I've been told I have a "following." I don't know how true that is, but if it is I like to think it is because I stay true to myself. That's not going to change, no matter where I show up.

You're better than a classic Conservative or a classic Democrat.

You're using your common sense to be an INDEPENDENT, by sizing up each subject the way you want to. Not how a group or organization tells you to.
