You have to be narrow minded to not be able to see how disturbing it is for one person or one family to have so much money, enough to feed the world and still have a huge amount left over.
I've always known how wrong it is but seeing as maths isnt my strongest point I never truly understood just how far away 1 billion is from 1 million. Let me break it down for you, and any other metaphors to help people understand are welcome.

If you was to make (half a million) £500,000 a year it would still take you two thousand years to make a billion.

If you was to equate 1 million seconds into days it would come out as 11 days.
If you was to equate 1 billion seconds into days it would come out as..... 31 years.

It would take the average person on an average wage 440,000 years to earn what Elon Musk has right now.

It's like trying to wrap your head around the size of the galaxy, it's a number so high that us normal people cant even comprehend it. It should be illegal for people to be sat on so much wealth, it sickens us yet we still contribute to the system.

I have no problem with people making millions or billions.

What I do have a problem with is that suddenly because they are wealthy , these billionaires feel they have a right to tell the rest of us what to do , or they actively become involved in IMO illegal activities for their own gain (& at the expense of all the rest of us).

What we see happening now with covid is all planned and funded by billionaires (gates, soros, rothshilds etc)
That is just sickening and should never have been allowed to progress this far!

I agree. But its also the mentality many people have. Get rich or die trying. Sacrifice all values to be rich. Everyone pooling all their money for one person to get lucky (the lottery).

No one deserves to be a billionaire. They live in a society, and we as a society can say, "hey it is unhealthy for our society to hoard that much wealth".

Yet, we don't, and often times hold billionaires as heroes. Most billionaires are very smart entrepreneurs. However, being rich and smart doesn't make one unselfish and caring about the society that made them rich.

It does feel wrong that the top 1% hoard so much wealth and we just accept it because "capatalism".

Money should exist for the betterment of mankind and the enormous wealth gap is an obvious violation of that principle. The more money you have the greater your responsibility should be but it seems the opposite; the more self-concerned they become to the point of seeking immortality through science and even believing it possible! Our world is suffering from a lack of compassion and a morality that encompasses us all. As bad as it was the church still did a better job of distributing wealth throughout a society. The only answer I can come up with is a progressive tax that goes all the way up to 98% if you make billions annually.

The truth about billionaires, none of them have any morals or compassion.

Well then let us do socialism. You do not know rich until you see the elite in a socialist society and the klingon minions who are handed out favors while the pedestrians are starved and raped . The problem with the rich are some of them buy politicians (Soros) to push favorable deals that only benefit themselves at the expense of everyone else.

Just one thing: in the US, one billion is one thousand millions, in other countries one billion is a million millions.

The US definition is now, apparently, used in most English language countries.

As an example, the world's population was estimated to be 7,800,000,000 as of March 2020. In Portuguese we call that 7.8 thousand millions (7,8 milhares de milhões in Portuguese). In the US they call that 7.8 billions.

Really? You think 20 cents per person is enough to 'feed the world and have a huge amount left over?

You probably also fall for t he 'the rich don't pay their fair share' BS too.

Snipped the rest of your silly, ridiculous envy rant.

People will always find a way to cheat.

Over the past 6 months, I was only paid $10/day ... and that's all I'm planning to disclose to the IRS.

Lol there is always one hater who just loves to hate, my advice to you would be to direct that hatred at the billionaire elites in question.
Nothing to do with envy - why would I desire a life of greed, dishonesty and bad karma of the soul.

I think you need to have a look at how much money we are really talking about here, it is said to end world hunger by 2030 it would cost 3.30 billion.
Between may and august 2020 the wealth of U.S billionaires went up by $685 billion. So those three months alone was more than enough to end world hunger.
And considering the combined wealth of U.S billionaires is over 3.65 TRILLION !! Not even including the rest of the worlds billionaires I would say they would most certainly have a huge amount left over.

There was me thinking I was bad at maths lol .. it would take a brain dead idiot to not see what is going on right in front of them.

Given the sentiment on this thread I don’t get why many of you get so bent out of shape with a plan to tax wealthy individuals.

The system for so long has worked in their favor. Is about time that someone comes from the left or right and makes things right for the rest.

And not the trickle down BS…that has never worked.

How much do you believe it costs to feed the whole world? For a year? With your 40k a year salary, how many people could you feed beyond your family? And yet you don’t spend what seems like riches to others on what those people demand you should.

Are you mad there is that much money in the world? Or that you are deprived of so much of it? How much should a person be allowed to have?

I don’t disagree that money keeps us all in servitude, but those chains aren’t broken by having more of it.

As stated in a previous comment it is said that it would cost 3.30 billion to end world hunger by 2030. I assume this would only be achievable with better resources to grow food in a sustainable way. A 40k wage as you describe would have to go towards many more items than just food for a family to survive in the modern world, for example energy bills- this could be free considering we already have free energy on earth.. something called The SUN.
But seeing as its not made free and available to all and we are actually all made to pay for our energy sources your point about the average persons wage seems completely invalid. Our wages would stretch much further if food was the only thing we had to pay for.
I dont think money should have ever been invented in the way it was, and I am angry that so many people in this world suffer from true poverty on the bad luck of being born in countries that have the earth's richest natural resources yet no economical benefits whatsoever.
It's sad that people like you are not also angry at that type of cruelty.

The more rich people there are the more poor people there need to be, otherwise their wealth isn’t worth as much. As we see the amount of billionaires grow and the rich get richer, we also see the amount of poor people grow by greater proportion. Generally speaking and over the long term that is.

Note before some jumps in and claims living standards are improving I’m talking about real wealth here tied to assets, not the junk people own such as TVs and cars which depreciate daily.

As you don't provide a source, I went looking for one, and found this.

It says 330 billion, no 3.3.
