A new lava stream broke out on La Palma minutes ago sending a flood of runny lava in a new direction.

Scroll bottom link back on the right side until you see the first tongue of lava overtop the rim.
It happened fast……mere minutes!
Lava breaks out fast and furious once it gets rolling….
So cool to watch although it looks like whole new areas may sadly burn.

PS:
When the first tongue appeared on the rim of the crater I thought it was just over wash but it kept growing and a few minutes later the crater wall burst and very runny lava came roaring out and down the slope.

It does suggest that hotter lava is coming up from the Magma chamber, which means it's coming up from deeper down, which means the lava column will expand as it melts the fumarole from the magma chamber to the surface.

its being fed from deep down. got rid of the beginings..now we might see the real stuff.

Yes the plug of more viscous mass is now out of the way. The thing is heating up, if it can flash boil aquifers into steam, it has to blow. They should evacuate the islanders now.

There was a swarm of quakes under it yesterday and early am today, some were near 4.0.
It’s getting very serious now!
Whole new parts of the area are in danger of burning.
When you see how runny the lava is now and how fast it’s moving will people be able to get out of the way in time if it’s flowing in their direction?
I pray the authorities are on top of it!
I watched it happen live and when the cone wall burst I knew people could not outrun the flood I was seeing!
Scary stuff……!!!!

i was talking on one of the threads from the beginning. these fissures would join and eithe blow the side out or collapse it. just common sense...and now it has happened

i can see a stampede to the sea...i hope there are enough boats!

It sure hasn’t taken that Lava long to spread far and wide has it!
The second link gives you a better perspective on where it has traveled so far.
The first link is definitely better for scrolling back and watching it begin to happen.
I’m trying to find any kind of alerts that have been posted on the island but so far I’m not having any luck.
I can’t imagine that they are not reacting to this in a frantic way right now!

Whole new area is burning now. The Lava has reached neighborhoods with streetlights still on.
You can see many buildings burning already……..WOW!

I cannot find any news online about this new breakout and all the fires raging.
When the media catches up it’s probably going to be everywhere in the news!
