I thought that Tom Cruise was supposed to be the first actor up and going somewhere around now?

I have a bad feeling about that flight. Tom Cruise is literally living his cryogenic life in Vanilla SKY. I have a feeling that his luck might run out this time but I hope I'm wrong of course.

Supposedly Roscosmos (Russian equivalent to NASA) when heard of Cruise planned trip to space decided to preempt him

Russian space program has always been known for emphasis on performing "Firsts" for propaganda purposes
