Not sure if they had any evidence (hits from dogs, etc) that he's in the water or if they feel like they've covered all the ground they can actually walk and are just moving to the water now.

True, but then again she wouldn't have even been living in a van, with some abusive murderer POS, making vlogs about 'van life' if there wasn't any adventure / money in it, now would she? And doing a vlog about living at your BF's parent's house ain't gonna attract many viewers. So she never would have even gone on that trip.

Step back from it for a moment. What did they both say to the cops in Utah? They both said it was her "little vlog" that was the stress point, but to her it wasn't little. It was likely very important to her to get it stood up as quickly as possible so she could get the revenue flowing. He obviously didn't give a crap about her vlog, all he likely wanted was to travel around the country with a piece of tail in a van and somebody else paying the bills. As long as life was good for him he'd let it ride, but when that started to impinge on his little fantasy world it was time to ditch the baggage and move on.

And, that appears to be exactly what he did.

Here's another interesting point. During the Utah traffic stop Laudrie can be heard saying he doesn't have a phone, but in the video you can clearly see a phone in his pocket. Was he lying? Maybe not. In one of the many news stories there was a bit about how Petito had installed a trail tracker on his phone so she could use the paths that "he" hiked (not "they") on her vlog. It is entirely possible his phone was only capable of texting, so he might not have been lying when he said Petito was the only one with a phone. This would explain the fight over "her" phone at the market earlier.

Not sure what to make of that, but just another data point.

If it wasn't the vlog there was always going to be something that set him off. Honestly, it's a really weird take to blame YouTube monetization when this was clearly just a case of a toxic relationship.

This actually reminds me a lot of a 2013 murder case in Hawaii where a guy murdered his fiancee, dumped her body in the ocean, tried to flea, then killed himself when he felt the net closing in.

I don't blame it solely on monetization, I'm only pointing out that monetization of these videos is a contributing factor to some of the stupid crazy on the net.

If you'd like to see a more current example...how about the parents in Idaho who killed their two kids and fled to HI. They believed their children were reincarnations of the devil based on internet crazy theories, and had monetized YT channels to support their whacked out theories. What were their names again?? Oh yeah, Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell.

Those two sick crazies murdered Vallow's children, chopped them up in pieces and buried them in plastic bags in a burn pit,...and then went to Hawaii and had a wedding celebration!!

I think it's pretty clear I believe he's the one that killed her.

I don't however think it's productive to cry that his parents were accessories and demand they be arrested when there's no evidence suggesting that.

By the way, weren't you coming up with crazy reasons why Laubdrie couldn't have killed Gabby in the other thread about this case? And you want to say that i'm the one that's defending this POS?

Yes, that was me (among others). Just trying to be objective and look at all angles. I eventually ruled those out based on other developments, but yes, that is what I said.

Mysteries like this are very interesting to me, and kind of in the spirit of what ATS is all about. Has this case been a 'distraction' from other news? Yes, it most definitely has...a welcome one (for me anyway). I can only take so much of Biden stepping on his d#ck, Orange Man bad, Plandemic, etc., so having a diversion to think about something different is nice (though this particular case is tragic). I like the discussion, the debate and seeing other people's ideas. It's good brain candy.

If anything, your claim that YouTube monetization is a factor in this tragedy is more of a defense of him than anything I've said, as it seeks to absolve Laundrie of some of the blame and shift it over to Gabby.
