Well, I think this sounds like a good category for this, but as always, if you raskly mods disagree, please feel free to relocate my beloved thread to a new forum.

As to the story, really the title says it all. I remember when Google (I believe it was Google) tried this and it failed miserably. Of course, again as I recall, those were clunky and obvious. People would wear them into bars and whatnot (like idiots) and people would become rightfully pissed. I mean, who wants to be video'd in a bar, drinking, trying to pick up another....just didn't work.

These bad boys, however, are virtually (pun somewhat intended) undetectably. Thoughts?

Woopee, just throw in a wifi connection to the nearest 5g and you're off, bye bye humanity, hello prison world. I mean, why walk around with a camera in your phone doing nothing most of the time when you could be out there earning social credit points for being a brownshirt POS.

They're so cool! I want a pair!

I went on Amazon to see if they were selling them. They're not selling those particular ones, but they have quite a few video sunglasses, like These

You can see the camera, not inconspicuous at all.
The videos will be interesting and boring because tons of people just sit and look at crap on their phone in public. What are people watching on their phone- inquiring minds want to know? LOL

I have an NReal light MR glasses dev kit. Occulus is childs play. If their AR is worth a damn i think it may only be the result of copying NReal. And the only reason NReal isnt a hot topic right now is because Epic games is complaining the product name is too similar to the Unreal 3d engine, despite having no actual employees developing into mixed reality. Was a pain in the ass to get it imported when I picked up the kit, sat in customs for weeks. Cannot comment on security of the camera but the privacy in my dev kit extends so far that i have a separate dev controller i can load an apk to so i dont even have to connect it to my phone.

You can see what they are watching refract on the lense just like if they had regular glasses on. If they are watching some pervy # you will know. Abd occipital speakers can be heard well enough just being near a person.

Well, if I were a betting Woman (sometimes I am), I would say they are watching the tik tok’s- said in a very exaggerated West Texas accent.

I tried to put your post into Google translate, but my computer exploded and the entire eastern seaboard went dark.

Those are kool. Years ago I thought something like that would work for peoole with stargardts but the inside of the glasses was the camera feed with internet capabilities. Stargardts is a disease where you are legally blind but can still see.

The potential for all the missed youtube videos cause people are to slow on the draw is awesome though.

There are plenty of spy devices on the net that are cheao so this isn't anything different except more well quality produced.

Just go to nreal.ai in your browser to see what mixed reality looks like. I installed a demo for ghost hunter on my phone. You can naturally see everything around you in reality in addition to all sorts of zombies and demons coming at you from 360 degrees through the glasses. Its all 3D, or maybe 4D if you think about it. I had to play in the middle of a field and run around to avoud getting hit in the game. Surprised no one has called the cops on me yet.

I know this thread was mosrly about the privacy aspect, but i think until people start caring about the privacy they have already lost no one will say a damn thing.

I feel like i recall reading a story recently on some successful retinal implant or artificial retina or something. These glasses will be super cool for a while. Then some idiot will make an app that makes every girl look like they are wearing cat ears and play their k-pop theme music when you walk by. Then it will all go to # from there foreward.

Ok, I actually understood that one. Score one for Google translate. I did go to the website but the damned WiFi is down so I'm hotspotting from my phone and it was just too slow for that site. I'll have to wait till the WiFi comes back up, but I did bookmark the site.

From the video:

Old Lady: "Why are you recording me?"

Reporter: "Because these glasses have a camera in it."

The art of actively listening to people is an important skill that is lost on many who think they communicate "effectively".

Glasses with cameras and microphones have been around for a very long time. This is nothing new. I even had a pen that had a camera in it. But you do look conspicuous when holding your pen in awkward positions while at the beach!!

I don't see the point of these though. 30 second record limits? By time you want to catch something - if your intended use is just as a perfectly normal camera and not to catch the super snarky check out chick who always inspects your $50 bills - it's already stopped recording.

Well we are at least allowed to wear masks everywhere we go, and a tiny can of spraypaint in your pocket isnt illegal.
