The first matrix was pretty good.
The second was ok
The third was terrible

The fourth?
I'm not exactly teaming with excitement...

The first film was all you needed but after that once it became a hit it fell into the same problem that Highlander did.

Highlander like the original matrix was never really meant to have a sequel but it was successful so was followed by increasingly bad sequels that destroyed the screen magic of the original movie.

It's like a perfect pizza, just perfect them someone wants more of this or that on top and before you know it the thing is ruined.

Now a REMAKE of the original movie fine, perhaps even with Neo mentoring a young guy that is the new Neo and taking the place in a twist of the one of the machine avatars, perhaps he always was?.

That might be worth getting all dressed up in my Sunday mask to go see that documentary.
I'm also ordering some red capsules.

I'd say the first is pretty good in the lens of all time...

It was incredible when it came out though IMO. So ahead of its time in terms of special effects and the concept was fresh.

I will admit though, special effects ended up being a blight on modern films since they seem to only focus on that now instead of plot, dialog, and character development.

I'm excited for the new matrix purely for nostalgia, but i expect to be disappointed.

I agree.
It was one of those movies you had to see at the time but it's not a movie I still watch today.
Just like avatar.
It's was pretty but it had no lasting power.

Im actually sorta looking forward to this movie now.

Sucks that my Mr Smith (Hugo) wont be there or my Morpheus, but ill still check it out.

The song White Rabbit was perfect for that trailer.
It calls back to the original when Morpheus says to Neo " or be like Alice, tumbling down the rabbit hole."

Ill go see it in theaters. Might even drop that extra $5 to see it in 3D even.

Wasn't follow the white rabbit was one of the first things he was told to do...and he didn't understand till he saw the chick with the white rabbit tattoo.

Man I love the original Matrix and I do occasionally watch it again, and I'll watch this one. But I would imagine it's so woke now it will both suck and blow.

Other than the first Matrix, the best thing to happen in that "universe" was Animatrix.

I'm not into Anime, but that was really well done.

It was non linear episodes that were like 15 minutes long each. They were all short stories about different things that happened in the Matrix. Had like a Black Mirror vibe, they were all a little trippy.

That's fair.

The Avatar was just far too long and drawn out. I don't think I ever finished it, too much fluff. I can understand why some people geeked out over it, but just not my cup of tea.

I can see the parallel though.

As long as it doesn't turn out to be a "The matrix - Re-woked" It would be a win but even the trailer is already showing Neon Blue haired woman so i already do not have high hope s for it. Next to that, the only reason they have been pulling old franchises out of the box in the past years in the fil or games industry is to use them as political vessels.

I think of Star Wars. The first was great so I saw the second. That too was a find sequel. I was still enchanted so I watched the third. That was enough for me.

Now there have been how many more? A dozen? More, less? I lave lost count. And cartoon versions?
When it was all bought up by Disney that proved it was no longer science fiction but rather nothing more than schlock.

Good to see someone noticed animatrix.. it was a gem of a experience.

I always loved the story of matrix. so I am looking forward to this new one.
But yes Morph and Hugo will be missed.

There was a time on ATS where members would point out the obvious symbolism throughout this trailer. Gone are the glory days it seems..

I think Neo got reinserted after thinking "I don't want to remember nothing. Nothing. You understand? [pause] And I want to be rich. You know, someone important, like an actor."

Neo has an agent. He is rich. Is he an actor in the matrix in this one. He does not remember Trinity.

The Wachowski's ARE the Matrix. They are the illusion, the fraud, the fakery. It's all just psychedelic Hollyweird glitz and eye-candy, but of course I plan to watch anyhow.

Was that a Masonic handshake at 37 sec mark? I'm not up on my Freemly grip lore.
