Prince Rainier III gravely ill.

Prince Rainier of Monaco is currently in ICU, in what is being described as a "worrying condition". The 81yr old has ruled the 'city state' since 1949 and has three children, Prince Albert and Princesses Caroline and Stephanie by the late Grace Kelly whom he wed in 1956.

Prince Rainier is widely credited with turning Monaco into a refuge for the 'ultra rich' by providing
tax haven status, and is a second home to many who seek the ultimate holiday home and/or a shrewd investment.

His son Prince Albert is heir to the throne.

I wish him the best. I always followed his fairy tale wedding to Grace Kelly, and the man has mucho class.

I hope he recovers from this.

Pope blesses 'worsening' Rainier

A frail Pope John Paul II has sent a special blessing to Monaco's Prince Rainier, who remains on life support.

Palace officials said Prince Rainier's condition was "worsening", in a statement issued on Saturday.

Doctors are reserving their prognosis for the 81-year-old prince who has been on a respirator since Tuesday when a lung infection worsened.
