You two do understand that both rocks and iron balls are already covered by my pick of slingshot if they are propelled by any elastic means and use any laser system to aid in targeting. Slingshots can also shoot arrows and bolts if anyone else has that idea. Bolts are short arrows intended for crossbows.

No, those work on an entirely different principal. I don't see any rotary launch arm type system being practical as the compensation would be more complicated than the simple elastic silngshot where all motion would be linear.

Also, I was thinking on the iron balls and they would not work very well. The iron being moved in its trejectory by the magnetic field of the Earth would complicate the targeting of small objects. Any non magnetic metal would be more accurate. Iron is necessagy for rail guns as they work by magnetic forces.

I say it's maser / DEW stuff. It's the only thing that makes sense to me. High energy lasers and throw a microwave oven into the mix, too.

Not to destroy but burn out camera and other sensors, overload the antenna and damage circuits and things like that. Things that make it look like a cosmic ray did it or simple technical failure.

Possibly Rods from the Gods.

Coz its very doable, just costly to get the 20ft long Tungsten tipped rods into orbit.

Chances are it will turn out to be some kind of low Earth Orbit electronic warfare and/or surveillance capability all the same.

Rods from god
Star Wars Space based laser defence
Captured asteroid ready to steer & drop on China

What it probably will be

A new spy satellite 🛰 which can image Xi Jinping on the toilet for ransom and exploitation
