As we all know, feudalism was the prevailing socioeconomic system in medieval Europe. In fact, if you grew up watching Disney movies, you’ve seen examples feudalist society.

From YourDictionary.com: Feudalism is defined as a Medieval European political, economic and social system from the 9th to 15th century. An example of feudalism is someone farming a piece of land for a lord and agreeing to serve under the lord in war in exchange for getting to live on the land and receiving protection. Noun.

In our modern world, that wouldn’t happen, right? Well, major banks own most farms, and the farmers live on it making just enough to survive in many cases. We’re practically already there, but it’s deeper than that.

This pandemic has done a lot of damage to society, but not nearly as much as our (and other) government(s) have. The shut down of small businesses in favour of large corporations has been the key. I have nothing against Walmart, but when the government makes decries that that (ugh English) is the only place that you may shop and that the mom-and-pop shops must close until they can not afford to pay rent and shut down, you eliminate small business and allow large corporations to take over other sectors. While this is not truly a monopoly, it’s about as bad.

Imagine a world where a government allows major cooperations to have free run. Hardly pay taxes, simply pay fines for negligence, and no protection for their customers, while not allowing the small businesses to serve their customers. That’s where we are heading. It could be worse: the fictional television series “Continuum” shows the US government go bankrupt and a conglomerate of corporations bailed them out in exchange for the replacement of Congress with their boards. I could see this happening.

Now in the definition of feudalism, replace the word “lord” with the word “corporation” or “bank”.

In our political, economic and social system from this century someone is farming a piece of land for a bank and agreeing to serve various corporate entities in exchange for getting to live on the land and receiving a paycheck.
Watch carefully, as our rights are stripped away, we are quickly becoming peasants who own nothing and work for people higher than ourselves on the social ladder.

Do we need an Antifeudalist protest?

I don't quite understand how corporatations will have any power if the democrats are trying to get rid of the rupublicans and therefore capitalism in the first place. I think the farmers should be compensated; they control all the food.

Democrats will fail. Corporations fund politicians.

We aren't directly controlled by any one company like in your example, but we are beholden to special interests that make lame politicians rich.

I could see a future of corporate wars being fought against native government and against eachother. Politically, its already been happening for decades if you count bailouts and lobbying.

Corporations control both dembs and the GOP. It's called capitalism and how would you change it? What makes you think democrats aren't capitalist. They have corporate interest as well.

I'm a farmer and would prefer you leave the current system alone. My farm along with some of my other business enterprises are incorporated.

And my political contributions will go to the party that cares about my finance interest. After the jan6th coup attempt, the GOP is fractured.

If you think working for corporations is "Feudilism" the take back some control.....Unionize.

I don't think it is yet. I could see how if we're not careful, that could be a result. But unions are a touchy subject where I live, that likely won't happen.

the leftist / progressive elite is rolling over any opposition.
defeat Republicans by hook or crook. marginalize moderate Democrats. all favor to friendly businesses (Facebook, Google) and more and more onerous burdens and regulations on small ones.
middle class and upper middle class is being ground down.
before long no one will be able to buy their own house. why is housing so expensive? the progressives are subsidizing housing for their supporters (poor urbanites) which inflates all housing costs. and its hard to build new units as developers are demonized as being anti-environment.

we are headed for a wealthy elite of ruling class (Democrats, tech businesspeople), a huge lower middle class that will end up in concrete box apartments, and a substrata of poor and indigent, many of them criminals preying on what middle class is left.

all about control. the left is obsessed with control

Question:

How is being led into a building by police opening doors, and then sitting and taking pictures, a coup? Especially when you are unarmed?
Just wondering.

I have seen worse things at peaceful protests.
No one died except Ashley who was shot by a cop when she was unarmed, and one cop who died of natural causes.
Some coup!

The Iron Law of Oligarchy is always, always, always in play in any system we have ever created.

Always

We tend to think that a given system "fails" or "devolves" when it starts to truly manifest, but it is an inevitability. Many of the left blame it all on capitalism, but the systems they promote are substantially more prone to this Iron Law (I mean.. obviously lol). In this, its not so much a return to feudalism (though I have stated it that way myself), its more the manifestation of a phenomenon that has emerged in literally every system to date. It just happens in the context of the particular time in history, just as its happening now in the modern context.

The founding of the US was, perhaps, one of the largest steps towards directly addressing this phenomenon. Everything from the Constitution and the Bill of Rights to the notion of a bunch of different regions existing as individual but connected "experiments."

Its absolutely brilliant work! But, it was restricted by the context of its time. We never really had the actual tools and technology to complement the ideals that were laid out in the founding.

We do now though, and we can literally buy the stuff on amazon and ebay. Its just that most are focused on either supporting or rejecting whatever is plastered into our consciousness through information channels. Very few are actually working on something outside of this acceptance/rejection paradigm, but I do believe there is a growing awareness that we have completely different options available to us in the form of technology and decentralization.

Becoming?

Wake up! The thought that we actually 'own' anything that we payed for is the biggest lie there is. Owning anything, anything at all,is an illusion. Whatever you think you have, the government in the country that you live in can take it away from you with a snap of their fingers. With all the laws and tax systems they have in place we just end up paying for what we own, paying for what we already payed for. Our land, houses, cars, we even pay them for them to allow us to go to work every day of the week! We still are medieval peasants!
And yes, big corp go hand in hand with govs and their law/tax system

Ummm. no. It isn't. It is fascism by definition (unholy marriage between government and corporations).

and how would you change it?

First, force a massive DIVORCE between corporations and government by first passing a Constitutional Amendment forever forbidding corporations from being considered 'persons' within the meaning of the word in the Constitution, and that they do not have ANY Rights, only privileges bestowed by the government.

Second, establish 100% full corporate as well as personal (for any and all corporate officers and/or employees) civil and criminal liability for intentionally and knowingly engaging in any behavior that would be considered punishable if engaged in by a private person - as well as serious penalties even if they had no personal knowledge but are in a position wherein they should have known.

What makes you think democrats aren't capitalist.

Because they are demonstrably fascist, which is the opposite of capitalism.

If you think working for corporations is "Feudilism" the take back some control.....Unionize.

Rotflmao! More gaslighting from one of our resident socialists.
