The Shadow Hat Man

If you've seen it you know what I'm talking about.

So, I was curious if anyone else has experience with this thing and feels safe sharing those experiences. I have my own theories on who or what it is but delving into all of it makes me feel really unsafe. At the same time, I know there are others out there who've seen it and know it isn't a manifestation of sleep paralysis or some kind of archetypal hallucination. Kind of just want to start an open discussion for those who feel safe.

Shadow hat man....could be me on a sunny day, sitting in the shadow with my sunhat on, I know it's overkill, but I don't like plain sun.

Other than that, there is so much crawling and creeping around in the woosphere, never heard of the shadow hat man.

Care to share your experience.

just looked up the urban legend of the shadow hat man. I like that he is wearing a fedora hat, maybe it's me from the future when I finally created my fully independent egregore. Although, the account of red eyes leads me to the assumption that he is not human in origin.

look.....before the douche bags that made creepy pasta infected the internet with fiction and the young smooth brains took hold. The hat man is one that's been on the net since the mid 90s. Before slender tard, siren prick and the black eye children, there were real mysterious entities that people commonly reported. The two I can remember that were commonly mentioned was spectral skeletons running through the home and the good ole top hat man. In this day and age everything is forced to be taken with a bug-a-salt gun because there's soo much shiite on the net. In the end everything is up to you to decide.

I remember a post on here years ago about the shadow hat man. … and ironically that post made me remember when I was a child , seeing the shadow man in our hall way . But the one I saw was different then the post( I think ) . It was a man with a cowboy hat and a rain cape , or poncho . I don't remember his face ,only a side view , and he showed up several
Nights in a row …. I remember I was always very scared that he was there. But he never seemed to do anything , just stand in the hallway …. I don’t know if this is the same hat man that the OP is talking about ?

I see it all the time creepy man always wants his news paper delivered to him in his closest for whatever reason. weird.

funny you mentioned squirrels, early this morning one chewed on a pole transformer and got grade A electric chair treatment and knocked the power out for about half an hour. Had I been awake when it went down I wouldve collected its corpse and fed it to the dogs squirrels tell no tales. jk I don't give my dogs burned meat.

Ok. First thing, I'm not talking about a creepy pasta. I get that they exist but this entity or whatever it is has existed well before the internet age. The creepy pastas etc. exist because there have been so many experiences with this thing over decades. I have looked into it enough to know I am not the only one.

I had my first encounter with whatever it is in 1984 or 85. (I was 4 or 5. Yes, I'm old.) It is a shadow but with enough depth to get the outline of a trench coat and a wide brimmed hat. There were times it was very apparent that he was looking at me, but no, he did not have red eyes.

Ive only ever read accounts of other people's experiences but never had the chance to talk to another person who saw it. So that's why I'm here, I suppose.

The Hat Man by [email protected] Fortunately, I have not seen anything ghostly for awhile..unfortunately, I've had a lot of bad premonitions. I will tell you a story that happened several years ago. The details are kind of fuzzy. But, what I can remember is that I was walking down the upstairs hall of my house and in the last room I caught a glimpse of a man in a suit and a hat like they used to wear...in the 20's or 30's. THat room used to be my room when I was a kid, and I thought it was creepy (more stories) anyway, he disappeared...then one day I was at work ( I worked at a donut shop and it was at least afternoon..daylight) I was there all alone..when I heard the bells on the door jingle as if someone were coming in. I looked up and caught a glance of the same figure standing against the wall. It was really weird. My friends and I call him "the hat man". Haven't seen him since.

I can relate to this, having experienced something eerily similar many years ago.

I think I was around 7 or 8 at the time, so 1971 / 72. We lived in the north of England at the time, in an average street in an average town close to Manchester. Late one night I woke up suddenly, the bedroom door was open with a view of the landing and stairs coming up from the ground floor. There was dim light coming in through the glazed front door providing some light to the stairs and there was a black form, a shadow slowly coming up the stairs. The head was a funny shape, almost as if wearing some kind of hat but, as this was a formless shadow only, no other detail was identifiable.
Needless to say, I screamed like a little girl, as did my younger brother who it seemed had also woken up at the same moment that I did and, moments later just before my father arrived and turned on the light to see what was going on, this form kind of stepped sideways into an area in shadow near the top of the stairs and disappeared.

Over the years, since the advent of the jolly old interweb, I have seen many reports from people relating such experiences so there must be something in it. If it was just me that had experienced it, it could have been put down to a bad dream, but as my younger brother woke up at the same moment that I did and saw it as well (and screamed louder than me - the wuss) then it adds credence to the experience. There were a few odd things that happened in that house!

Can't say I blame them, I was young once I p issed on the electric fence thinking it was just another pole to pee on, learned my lesson real quick too, now everytime I go to the woods I have rubber maid gloves like grandma used to wear slinging comet scrubbing the deep sink and a set of bolt cutters. Perhaps in this great reset I can outfit the rodents with similar features and everyone including brim hat man that reads in the closet can have a better day.

never heard of the basque region before. Interesting, looked up local folklore and mythology, nothing to pull from to explain the hat man sighting.
