The Yellow Stars hit too close to home for their liking.
They know what they are supporting and really do not want to be reminded of it. It makes them squirm inside since they are willingly participating and want the fantasy that what they are doing is OK.

The thing here, is these people put those stars on themselves.... they want to be oppressed. they crave it. some sort of twisted fantasy.
I seem to recall someone from a dr who episode who acted like this- just begging for someone to tell them what to do, what to think.
