What the Hell are you doing in Hawaii? Do people there look at you kind of strangely since you are coming there and spreading BS all over the place?

They look at me strangely regardless.

Yep, that's the unspoken cruelty of convexness. Have you bumped into Phage yet? pardon the pun.

I'm on the Western side of the Cascades.

County dashboard shows:
65% Vaccinated. June was low in Covid cases, big spike this last week though. Mostly 19-34 age group. Only 9 cases in the local hospital.

Last time I was at the store it was about 3:10 wearing masks.

Central Florida, and business as usual. Still hitting the bars and theme parks and beaches every weekend, as are countless others.

I went near the beach and blew into a conch shell to summon him, like the Kraken.

Still waiting.

Hot Tamalewood...

Some mask up, most don't. The Rez and Pueblos are getting hammered with covid sickness and deaths.

Casinos are open everywhere, Just passed recreational cannabis, Autumn in the Rockies is beautiful and the tourist are back spending money like the old days.

The studios are crankin...

Not much going on here, none of my friends have died, or my customers or my wife’s friends or friends of my friends etc. besides the news trying to tell me again my neighbors have the plague or my friends do and they can kill me all is relatively normal in time and space. However the economy and the health of society seems to have more of a negative effect to covid than our health.

KC midwest.

The press is full of big, bad delta scare stories. Most places are ignoring them. St. Louis went back to a mandate and the Missouri AG sued them over unconstitutional mandates. Just a couple days later, they voted to back off the mandate. Our mayor has political beefs big time with Jeff City and happens to be a close friend of the St. Louis official who pushed their mandate, so we got pushed back into masks about a week ago.

The Missouri AG sued us too.

Of the four metro core counties, Jackson (basically KCMO all over again) decided to go along with the mayor and Wyandotte also went along with the mayor although they didn't go along right away. They waited another week to decide. Johnson County flat out told the mayor to go pound sand, but they were always most resistant the first time around and have the highest vaxxed population.

So I wake under a mask mandate and drive to the Johnson County free state where some businesses request you wear them but most don't.

My own place of work has no current plans to return to masking at all.

Then, north of the river, Clay and Platte Counties also have no current plans to return to mandates. So while we live in KCMO and have to mask because of the mayor who is being sued over that, we can drive into Gladstone or over to Liberty or down to Parkville and not have to mask up at all because of the county refusals to order mandates. As vaccinated people, we feel no incentive to wear them where we don't have to.

The school district currently only has plans to require them for the first two weeks ... we'll see how that goes.

Covid has been quiet here. The biggest issue is if schools will require masks or not.
We have had some large events, the Bucks game, and the State fair. Cases appear to be almost exactly
where they were a year ago if you go by statistics. The vast majority of people do not mask and about 50 percent of our population is vaccinated.

Where are you and what is the situation? I think it is more reliable to hear from real people rather than the news.
I know in some states cases seem to be up.

Chicago suburb. The hysteria is starting again. The big debate about if schools are going to require masks and the hyperventilating over Delta.

Quite frankly, I see no data or reason kids need to be masking in schools. Statistically, deaths of people under 17 are a rounding error. Kids have more risk of being hit by a bus or shot than dying from Covid. Literally only about 350 deaths under 17 years old last year attributed to Covid per the CDC. The previous year there were 200 flu deaths in that age group. We weren't masking or shutting down schools then, so why now?

Most old people are vaccinated. At this point, if someone doesn't want the vaccine, that is on them.

Tired of these folks continuing to move the goal post.

Just north of Atlanta and everything is ok, though cases and even hospitalizations are up a bit. The levels are still low relative to the population. ICU bed usage could become a concern, across the 91% of the ICU beds are occupied

We have a mask mandate in Atlanta but it really isn't being enforced and Id say it's 30% wear the rest don't. The best thing is we just had a market here and it was very busy and that's encouraging.

Same here. Just north of Atlanta and no big deal.

I was just down in Atlanta last week. It was nice to be somewhere without all the face diapers.

The thing I find funny living in a blue liberal enclave is all the hysteria. You drive south and everyone is acting all normal without masks. Yet, many of my liberal friends can't someone seem to get that people are not dying in the streets and hospitals over run no matter what the media seems to say.

A lot of scaremongering news, but soo far here in my area in GA I have not seen anybody sick, I have not heard of anybody in the hospital sick and I do not even have the jab and do not wear mask. Some do, but more so do not.

Supposedly only 40% have at least one jab of the china virus shot in GA.

Geographically I’m not that far from you but it seems like two different worlds.
I couldn’t believe that kids in Illinois were still not in person. We are making a ton of money from Illinois as everyone is coming here for vacation.

I don’t know what is going on in Missouri but it’s one of the places that keeps getting highlighted in our news.
They are seriously making out to be like the Black Plague over there. Stories of people begging for the vaccine after they are hospitalized (all from Missouri). It is very bizarre!

Yeah ... whatever.

They want you to believe that we're all dying because it was Trump central out here and everyone knows that only uneducated Trump voters don't get the shot amirite?

But what they ignore is that urban dwellers (like the poor blacks in the KCMO core) are about the least likely to get the shot thanks to a lack of trust in the government when it says, "Here. Have free health care on us!" They recall Tuskegee.

But there is a flare-up of delta down along the Arkansas border. Oh ... horror. I tremble in fear.

**EDIT**

Also the latest numbers show a slight downward trend statewide. In our county, the high rate is running around 30 cases/day for the whole county which is fairly populous. And no one died in the last seven, or at most 1 person because the rolling average is 0 deaths.

Here in New Zealand, no mask mandates (but I have still seen a few wearing masks occasionally), no lockdowns, and no cases in the general public. We still have the hand sanitizer stations, 'sign-in here' contact tracing, and social distancing signs everywhere.

I'm fully vaccinated but the roll-out has been slow. I suppose we never really had the urgency of other countries, but looking across the ditch to Australia, we can't get too complacent.

Just today there is a ship where 50% have tested positive, off the cost of the port in Tauranga . Thing is, they docked last week and, although none of them came ashore, some of our dock workers went on board. Hope it all resolves without issue.

Yeah, but that was mainly last year (I think).

We have still been taking in travelers, but they mostly go straight into quarantine, which is usually at nice hotels, but I think they are fairly full and now trying to book is a competition.

This has meant that we have ended up doing what we just did with that ship and sending it back out to sea for the quarantine period. Of course, you can't do that with air travel.

I work close to Auckland airport (that's how I got vaccinated before the general rollout) and all the MIQ hotels in the area are now behind dual-fence barriers and with their car parks full of services tents/enclosures to handle the safe transfer of necessary stuff.

I had hoped for the 'travel bubble' to Australia to stay open, but the Delta strain has messed that up for the moment. Our CEO got stuck in Australia a few weeks back but he's here now.

I also speak every few days to my team members in the US and they are all wanting to visit, I think just because they are sick of the lock-downs. One of them has a log cabin and is a 'bit of a weird duck'. He's loving the isolation and the ice fishing time. Apparently he has great internet there and I think he's a gamer. He always seems to be online whenever someone wants to talk to him, LOL.

Texas here and it seems pretty normal. I rarely see masks when I'm out and the new Austin FC stadium, with about 20,000 capacity, has been almost sold out for most games. I only see a few masks when I watch the games and I'm going to one soon.

I did go to a bar with a friend last night and there were only about 8 people at the most at one time, which was weird. We went a few weeks ago and it was packed, so maybe the Delta fear mongering got to people, or maybe it was because there were no bands.

Anyway, it seems 'back to normal' for the most part.
