My issue is that you and others are so ready to shoot down this attempt to reduce animal cruelty without any better suggestions.

Sure, on food put "this animal came from a low-living condition" environment.
But imo, the terrible conditions at many facilities warrents the government to step in. Especially when many want better conditions for animals.
