I have been using 32" tv's for monitors for a while now. most systems have HDMI out, and to get a 32" screen for about $120 was a no brainer. So yesterday I go up to wal mart to pick up 4 screens for a client that just bought some new systems. I asked why the prices for the 32" screens weren't listed, the guy shook his head and said, here, let me show you. Even the cheap ONN brand was $190 They all just about doubled in price.

I ended up getting 27" curved screen's for $160. Time are changing fast.

The times, they are-a-changin'

but not for the better.

the manufactured worldwide crisis caused a chip shortage- computer equipment is going up FAST.
I'm in the process of ordering a couple of cheap servers for work- two years ago I got these for 1200, now they're 5k- by the time management approves the 5k they'll be 7!

Two years ago a good quality 1080p dell screen in the 28" range could be had for $180. Now they want to re-open the office so we'll be ordering a few dozen any day now just for the new hires over the past two years... I bet they'll be 300 a pop.

Yes, just think of those who stockpiled these things a bit ago. I remember dell giving away 32" screens with a midgrade system. That was several years ago.

I don't know if it's inflation or greed, but I also noticed this recently at Wally's World. All the TV's went up.

I stockpiled screens at work when the price was right- a few dozen... until I ran out of storage space. People working from home all the time kept asking management for them until management depleted the stock, though. Instead of going into the office to bring home the screens they already had sitting idle in their cubicles, now they have another set at home.
Greedy basta---- wait, I already had that long before they closed the office. Although I did donate a few of my personal screens to the home office cause, too.

That's the same thing with the chip shortage. Supply is going down, demand is staying the same- prices will go up.

Although the last time I bought a 52" 1080p LCD TV it was a steal at $1k or so.... clearance from when circuit city went under back in what, 2007? Nice, dumb tv. Works great still, and doesn't have the capability to spy on me.

Last time I looked the modern "smart" ones in that size/resolution were going for like $300, so it's hard to complain if they're going back up- 1k in 2007 could buy a (crappy) used car. Now that car would be 4k and just as crappy.

Electronic parts are difficult to get.
Look at video cards.
I spent < $200 for an EVGA 2060 KO Ultra Gaming about 2 1/2 years ago .
They sell for $399 on Amazon the last time I looked .
Now , they are equivalent to the 2080 , but 2 years later they are $200 more ?

Was going to say the same thing, video cards are impossible to find at a reasonable price, even used. I was lucky I literally upgraded just before the plandemic, even my hand me downs are valuable now and getting sent off to my sted dad.

Chip "shortage." Lol. More like China applying pressure on the US.

This is what happens when you outsource your manufacturing...
