Because I know them personally. We have all been on the same journey this past year and a half. The change was instant as soon as they got vaccinated and I refused.

Smug would be one word to describe them, I have a distinct feeling they wish me ill just to say," See, we told you, we know better. You should have been like us and taken the Kool-Aid when it was on offer".

I despair at how easily people can be manipulated by the scare stories. People I considered to be at least semi-intelligent...occasionally.

ps, Most of them smoke. And in the past, some have taken various unlicensed drugs including Heroin from complete strangers FFS.

They’re already deployed- they started appearing at people’s houses last week in CA and a few other states. It’s probably scrubbed by now, but Illinois (I think? or maybe Indiana) had published guidelines for its “Health Ambassadors” to follow, including telling them to ignore “No Soliciting” signs, and telling people in communal buildings like apartment complexes that “the building let them in” and they are there with the Health Department.

Maybe. Other than farming, our biggest industry is health care. The IDPH pretty much tells us what to do. It may seem like the wild west here, but we still take precautions seriously.

Operative word being 'can', not 'do'. There are studies, and they all show the vaccine greatly reduces both infection and spreading. I believe one study showed that with only one dose of the moderna vaccine only 1/3 were found to be positive for the virus. That means less than 1/3 would have been contagious. That is also after 1 shot, not the full 2.

Different variants will likely be more or less infectious with vaccination, only time will give us the data we need to make better conclusions.
