The thread title reads someone called Chiraq was gunned down to me (may be due to ATS not allowing punctuation in thread titles) but the OP content doesn't mention anyone called chiraq/chicago being killed and instead claims a guy called KTS Dre was.

Is a no-mark US rapper/criminal being shot news? I thought it was standard practice and would only be covered in local news if it was a slow news day. At the absolute most it may recieve 240 words coverage in a rap magazine.

Sorry, forgot some of you aren't versed on gang culture. Almost all the violence you hear about in Chicago is gang related. There is a literal civil war going on between rival gangs. This is the part that is often left out.

Chiraq is a euphemism for Chicago since the violence makes it like a warzone.

There are two major gang factions. Black Disciples and Gangster Disciples. Each gang used to be very well organized with thousands of members each until the feds took down the leaders about 30 years ago. Chicago has a lot of kind of neighborhood subsidiary gangs that are either under BDs or GDs. Each gang is really on a few blocks of a particular neighborhood and they make up their own names.

In the story above, THF 46 is the clique that the guy Bob-O claimed. They are around 46th street in Chicago. Bob-O is the street name. He was rumored to have been killed by a rival clique called 051 Young Money who are around 51st street.

There are probably 20 or more of these little gang cliques. They all have rivals and alliances. It is really like some urban Game of Thrones.

They are engaged in a tit for tat.

A lot of the politics and beef get played out in rap videos where they blatantly disrespect the dead members of the rival gangs or their "opps". All over social media.

It is really quite fascinating in a macabre kind of way.

Correct. Join a gang. Beat people up or kill them. Suddenly you're somebody and not just another loser (even though you are).
White. Black. I have tried to tell people that it's not racial, it's economics. Oh, no. People prefer their racism because they can beat up a guy who isn't the same color as themselves but not the rich people who have manipulated the economy to such a degree that people have no hope.

My grandfathers and my dad might not have had book sense like I barely have, but they showed me how to work, why to work, and when to work and when to relax and enjoy the rewards of work.

It's a four letter word to some, they'd rather sell drugs or sell ass than work a job. THAT'S what is wrong with America, those two lifestyles are glamorized by glowing screens, but the glowing screens don't willingly explain the cons of those lifestyles, just the pros.

Daddy issues is just one problem. It's childhood abandonment, trauma, and an unhealthy environment that truly screw a developing brain up.

You can call it economic issues, but right now, there are opportunities in the jobs market for anyone who can scrape their butts up off the couch and hold down a job. Businesses are starved for employees. If you can display any kind of work ethic and competence, you won't be on the bottom of the rung for long.

So what's wrong? Too many would rather sit on the couch and take the temp unemployment money. Get paid for doing nothing, and when all is said and done, they'll get booted back into the work force and complain all about how unfair it all is all over again.

The simple truth is that all too many want all too much for the bare minimum effort on their part.

Why don't/can't they do a better job of killing each other, since the police are afraid to do it?

You can't go into a Chicago store on the South or West side without seeing lots of limping, or eye-patched, or wheelchaired young and old men/women.

People were calling Chicago Chiraq prior to the movie. That is why Spike Lee named the movie Chiraq.

Only 50% of Chicago....and primarily within city limits. City of Chicago has 2.7 million people. Chicago metro area has 9.4 million people.
