Many of us here on the forum are military and not , but as a US Veteran I really had to opportunity to study/practice a few forms of self defense while in the military.
One thing I found out is that becoming a black belt rank is and was just like being a white belt on my first day in the dojo. As time progressed I realized to win and walk away from a street fight, one must think of the tricks of survival to win or survive a fight. The laws of push and shove really only comes into place upon the survival of tricks to keep oneself alive. My own thinking over the years that it is the fake advance then go for the kill.

Am I right? There are a few attacks that will down a person and run like hell. LOL

It just depends on style

In a real fight no ones giving you a opportunity to tap out (jiujitsu) hard concreat will kill (judo) and a peck to the eye can end your ability to see (shaolin)

Is all about how you apply them

I used to train mixed martial arts with a group for some years but quit it because they took it very seriously and someone always got hurt or sent to the hospital for stitches.

But anyhow we used sticks and rubber machetes and such and i discovered that if you take a good swing starting up-going down, and stop the motion mid air, and repeat it so this time you actually deliver the hit, it will most likely be successful.

When you stop the motion and "rewind" your arm back to the starting position, your opponent will first raise their arms to block or whatever, but when you suddenly stop the swing, it causes their arms to relax and they drop a little, then you finish with a quick and powerful hit right in the middle of their head. All this happens in a 2 second time frame.

You know like how boxers drop their arms too low for a moment when they stop blocking, that small moment is when you it.

The Fabian strategy of minimum engagement unless vitally necessary without needlessly sacrificing territory or navigable search-space (untraversed areas potentially harboring likeminded individuals perhaps experienced, combat-ready fighters at that, in addition to possibly useful resources) seems to me to be the soundest approach. This works both for single persons or vast armies, so quite scalable. Just my $0.02
