That matches what I eyeballed when I went looking. There's not much in the way of original content there, and although they mentioned Trump in the announcement, neither he nor his family are there. What I did find interesting is that they reserved those names so people couldn't pretend to be anyone in his family or any of his close associates (at least without some sort of verification)

A bit more on the situation -- from other sources. There's NOT a lot on this; the appearance of GETTR seems to have been met with a big "ho hum" from the internet.

It is interesting to see how few people are actually talking about their ongoing experience with the site. There were a bunch of people on here that were excited to sign up for account. Yet now that the site is open I haven't seen a single person actually say they've made an account. Even the people on this thread complaining about the hackers and furries don't seem to actually be members of the site.

In the end, Gettr isn't going to fail due to furries. It's going to fail because the interest in a site like Gettr just isn't there despite the claims of Trump's vocal followers.

Did you make a Gettr account? Do you know anyone that did? If so, have any of you been actively using your account?

The Gettr app only has 500k downloads from the Google Play store. And while I obviously don't have access to Gettr's web analytics I'd be willing to bet their number of daily users has plummeted since Sunday.

Gettr isn't going to fail due to their lack of cybersecurity. It's going to fail due to being a subpar product.

Just looking through the top hashtags, it looks like it's already reverting back to being a site where Chinese nationals can express their dislike of the CCP.

I am stating that you are misusing the word "censorship". There are no government actions keeping you from speaking freely. The laws and statutes to limit it are pretty well known and not really argued (fire in the crowded theater type stuff). The only limits you have on your speech are:

- speech done in someone elses property...you aren't gonna say some things in my house. Or, apparently, Zucc's.
- Self censorship because of social pressure, or for any other reason

This is it. You are not censored.

I made an account. So far I’m disappointed. Most of the people I followed turned out to be fan accounts or fake parody accounts to smear them.

Which is interesting. I don't see censorship in Gettr....until we talk about what Gettr may be trying to achieve. Nothing about it tells me it was a serious attempt at social media. Which leaves the obvious answer as "data grab". What data, and for what purpose is kinda scary.
