I live near Chicago in a suburb renown
for being fiercely anti-Constitutional and
wholly progressive (totalitarian) in policing those who
violate local free speech comfort zones,
and I have not seen a single 17 year locust this year.
They were supposed to come out this Spring...
maybe whatever they used to kill every other insect
(most notably moths have vanished)
during the interim, has killed the locusts off?
It's sad. Earlier this Spring a kid on a company Segway
knocks on the door
citing that all my neighbors have hired them
due to 'the insect problem'.
He started naming species known to still be extant, as well as fictitious names
of neighbors who use them to wipe the insects out -sales persons all do that but I believe it sort of.
Karens and Kevins can become pretty mercenary
when they are bothered by something
that they cannot simply have taken away
by making a call to the cops.
I remember the night we moved in, turned on the porch light.
There were so many moths, almost like a snowstorm....now there's maybe one or two.
Zero locusts here. There were always thousands per lot.
Maybe they all died, or just don't like my town?
