How about we banish the descendants of slave owners and dissolve the companies they currently own. My ancestors never owned slaves, so I’ll be damned if I give a single cent to anyone that claims their ancestors were slaves. Nobody gets money, and those families that have lived wealthy for generations off the backs of slaves get knocked down a peg.

But why stop there.
Let’s declare war on the federal reserve for that form of slavery. And completely dismantle the CIA and execute those who have participated in human/child sex trafficking.

reparation's for what exactly? slavery? discrimination? mistreatment by the law?

already paid reparation's for slavery and over 100 years of poverty throughout the south, but it wasn't the rich or descendants of slave owners that paid the heaviest, so is it only blacks that deserve reparation's?

discrimination i can understand reparation's being justified to some extent but there's one problem, it basically implies that all White people are guilty of discrimination and punishes every White person for a crime most of them aren't guilty of, therefore its unconstitutional.

mistreatment by police and feds? sorry but that was never just a problem for one group, its always been a widespread problem for everyone as a consequence of qualified immunity making authorities effectively above the law, perception of poor people being criminals and lack of a reason for restraint when encountering people gives authorities every reason to discriminate whoever they want as long as they dont have the power to get around qualified immunity somehow.

How about they get a job and earn their money, like most people do?

Danegeld is always a bad idea. Danegeld.

If there were former slaves, children of slaves, still alive--then yes, reparations can be discussed.

Now? Better part of two centuries after slavery was ended?? Sorry, but no.

who exactly? what does reparations have to do with a job? and good luck getting a job when youre confined to one area because gangs tend to kill people for entering their territory, not only that but discrimination is real even if its not all White people, plus with police acting above the law it creates distrust which makes enforcing the law impossible in such areas.

when the rule of law recedes, the state of nature takes control and it won't release that control until the rule of law is upheld once again, as in things like qualified immunity being banned and police being held accountable and learning restraint. as it stands both sides are acting as the state of nature dictates instead of the rule of law.

jobs are hard to hold when youre always acting with fear clouding your mind, always worrying whether a gangster will shoot you or if the police will, surrounded by threats and unable to trust the law to help, how well could you keep a job in those conditions?

Wait, you are using logic, common sense, and Constitutional law to address an issue brought up by democrats? You have to know none of that matters...

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 states that taxation based on race is illegal.

The left would have to repeal the Civil Rights Act in order to achieve their goals,

Or just ignore it, redefine it, re-interpret it, or declare it racist and scour it from the pages of history - if it fits their immediate needs.

I would make anyone suggesting this watch the series The Fall of Civilizations. Specifically on the NW African empire, the black empire that enslaved blacks and sold them to Arabs long before America was discovered. They eventually sold them to Europeans. If there are reparations they should come from Africa and Arab countries. Yemen is still conducting this brand of slavery.

Does the war on poverty count for anything?

This year marks the 50th anniversary of President Lyndon B. Johnson's launch of the War on Poverty. In January 1964, Johnson declared "unconditional war on poverty in America." Since then, the taxpayers have spent $22 trillion on Johnson's war. Adjusted for inflation, that's three times the cost of all military wars since the American Revolution.

Last year, government spent $943 billion dollars providing cash, food, housing and medical care to poor and low-income Americans.

I am guessing if it hasn’t, straight up dishing out money isn’t going to solve anything either.

In Hawaii, they established the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, which is riddled with corruption, to manage a trust that gives out scholarships, loans and grants and property etc., to qualifying Hawaiians. If the government is going to do anything, it will most likely be something like that.

Jimmy Carter gave me the biggest honking block of cheese I ever had. Pretty damn good cheddar.
I ate all the cheese.
Now Biden needs to give me more cheese.

Fortunately back in 1866 the US Congress took care of the reparations problem. 14th amendment and the emancipation clause. Bans all claims from slave owners and the slaves from making claims against the United States. Reparations are unconstitutional.

Well, 100% of the lawmakers who argued against and voted against the Civil Rights Act were Democrats, so repealing it wouldn't exactly be out of character for them.

Barry Goldwater was no democrat, and he voted against the Civil rights act

Goldwater specifically objects to the public accommodations and employment parts of the bill, calling them an usurption of power by the federal government and says they "require for their effective execution the creation of a police state."

Yeah, how about no reparations period. I have native american blood in me and from the history of this country, my ancestors were slaughtered and had their body parts turned into pouches. In other words, they had no worth/value to the people committing those atrocities. At least black people had value as slaves. They were bought/sold/traded, all the while mine were cheated/tortured/slaughtered.

Lol perhaps Britain, France, and Portugal should pay, those countries owned 9 out of 10 major slave rings and are solely responsible for the kidnapping of African folks and the ones who profited most from those dealings. I mean hell the queen of England got mad cash someone should call her up.

Exactly. Just throwing money at a problem won’t solve anything. The war on poverty is a waste of resources. Starvation and Healthcare are the easiest things to overcome in the United States, but we direct large sums of money to a small group of pockets.

If it wasn't for whatever it is that happened that brought Africans to America there would be no Oprah, no Denzel, no Obama. no Michael Jordon, no Cardi B, no Kaepernick, no Lebron.

There are no living slaves in America nor living slave owners.

Nothing.

That's what they are owed.

You can be a gangbanger or a trans YouTube star making millions or anything in between.
Your choice.
