I found a knife earlier in the road and I've spent almost two hours trying to identify it using Gaggle and CluckCluckNo, as well as "knife identifier" sites.

Sorry I do not have a pic, I'm not using imgur or whatever.

It's a folding knife with W™ on one side of the blade and 4661120A on the other.

I've tried looking up "W" logos, no help there either. If anyone knows what company makes this knife please let me know.

Thanks

EDIT: I hope this works...

Maybe AW Wadsworth and sons made it? Hard to say no picture and your description is vague. What material is the handle is there any numbers on the blade that may say what material that is, is the handle pinned on both sides individually or is it glued etc etc

The numbers are posted, did they not show for you?

The number you posted looks to be a manufacturer's model number. If the blade steel is identified, it would be something like: 440C, D2, 1095, S30V, etc.

What’s the handle made out of and is it visibly pinned or not? I imagine the numbers you listed describe that your blade is made out of 1120a tool steel which is fairly common Williams makes wrench’s out of that material and chrome plates it, so nothing hyper exotic in that department.

I’m going to guess and say it is probably a Winchester knife model 466 made out of 1120a (466-1120a)

Only two marks:

4661120A & W™

I've seriously exhausted my gray meat looking online.

That's what I was thinking but the ones I saw online all had Winchester written out, not just a W™.

And there it be. Awesome. This knife feels so good in my hand. I'm going to test throwing it tomorrow.

Thanks Mandroid7.

That's the Winchester "W," but its probably a knockoff. All the Winchester knives I've seen have the full logo.

That is a Winchester W. I had a similar knife. It had the same W in the logo.

Winchester and Western usually have the name engraved in the blade, not just a W. I do not know what brand that would be, there are lots of knife brands out there now from all over the world. Doesn't really matter what brand it is the quality of the blade is what counts. Use it and thank the person who dropped it and swear at them if you cut yourself.

edit: I was WRONG.

I wouldn't be throwing that knife. It's made from 7Cr17Mov Stainless which is crap steel for a knife, made from genuine melted down Chi-Com hood ornaments, welding slag and gum wrappers. If you do throw it, wear safety glasses cuz it will probably shatter like a glass bottle when it hits something.

The Chi-Com 'steel' made from melted down patio furniture, kitchen appliances and trailer hitches is way better.

My first thought when I saw the OP was...Chinese Winchester...and Mandroid nailed it as exactly that.

You probably found it in the road because someone tried to sharpen it and realized it has a Rockwell hardness of about 4,000 and is made from pure radioactive chromium.

Just kidding...sort of!
