Though I'm new, I've enjoyed this site for many years and thank you for that.

I had a New Years resolution to read a book per week (audiobook). Some were better than others (my own star rating) and I'm seeking your kind input on some recommendations. Instead of an introduction, I hope you'll accept this 2021 book list as a testament to my interest.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Into the Wild...
Not as good as the movie...for a change.
I didn't appreciate the authors personal story mixed in with Chris McCandless.

I agree. I didn't mind the author's story so much. But I do recall having a lot of empathy for Chris after watching the movie when it came out. The book, however, led me to sympathize more with the parents. Was Chris's character not developed enough in the book? Did the actor and soundtrack give me what the book couldn't? Am I just older and in a different stage of my life? Probably all of the above. Three stars.

I appreciate you responding. Take care my friend.

Beelzebub's Tales to His Grandson

Thanks friend. Unfortunately, I've only the capacity for audiobooks and I can only get Beelzebub in German. Virtually the same with Gurdjieff, with the exception of an adaptation from Gil Friedman entitled 'Gurdjieff; A Beginner's Guide'. I don't think that is your intent, but please do correct me if I am wrong.

I do appreciate the response. If you come up with anything else, I'd be grateful for your thoughts.

Take care
