What hellscape have we found ourselves in?

Once something becomes so devious it could only be of the devils making.
It then becomes testimony to his intelligence.

50 out of 6355 fatal police shootings since 2015

Here in the US , if one plans on tangling with the law , or injuring someone else , one needs to prepare to meet the maker beforehand.

"Comply. Then complain."

Definitely words of wisdom.

When I hit the age that I would be out late, my dad took me aside and said it doesnt matter how right you are when dealing with the police remember the odds of them having a bad day is high, they have a gun, and a club and authority to use both.

Always stuck with me.

Especially if it's late at night, it's also good to keep in mind that they may be nearing the end of a very long shift (possibly double-shift), or it could be the beginning of their shift after a very short nights sleep. Either possibility can cause them to be much more easily agitated.

Don't 'go into the woods and start poking the sleeping bears. It rarely ends well.

So we live in a country where you just have to accept that you might get your head blown off on any given day because some poor police officer worked a double-shift and is more easily agitated. And half of Americans are OK with that. We could abolish the 3rd Amendment tomorrow and they wouldn't mind a bit.

America is something else

No. I'm just saying don't antagonize them. Nothing good will come from it.

Why do you think they don't show Cops or Live PD anymore? Really makes you think, eh?

Rule one, don't mouth off the Cops.

Nod, smile, and do what you're told. Cops remember the polite ones. They don't give you grief if you don't give them grief.

They went out of fashion in the 90s, there haven't been many on TV in years.

I still think "Comply, don't die" carries a lot of weight when dealing with law enforcement.

Who on their right mind thinks that fighting or resisting or running is a smart move?

All the episodes of Cops I have watched over the years shows the same thing, you don't win in the street. Take it to a judge if you're innocent.

I wonder how many people have been killed by cops in the last three decades, all colors, both sexes. And how many were not justified...then break it down by x and y and z.

Thanks for the thread.

I'm pretty sure that's probably the reason no channel wants to air COPS or Live PD anymore. Tons of arrests, no deaths, all races, and the ones who are arrested are the ones who are busted with narcotics or tried to resist arrest. Most of the people pulled over are given a friendly chat and released if they're compliant. But the crazies running the asylum don't want the country to be reminded that 99.9% of the police actually do their jobs, so they attempt to remove any chance that you'll doubt what they tell you about their current target.

Yeah sure. Live PD was brand new and was a huge hit.

Not bad considering there are over 330,000,000 people in this country and way more than 6,355 who broke the law and resisted arrest since 2015. This should be seen as good news. That's 0.001%

In the minds of the authoritarians' useful idiots

Calling the people who oppose out of control agents of the state “authoritarian”. I bet you have a Gadsden flag sticker next to a blue line sticker on your truck.

Never mind, I forgot you’re an actual cop.

I have both and I'm not a cop, just a patriot who loves his country. The out of control agents of the state can be found in DC trying to make new laws that limit our constitutional rights. The fact that you think it's the other way around speaks volumes about your character.

I dont put stickers on my truck and the only blue line gear I have is gifts from friends and family. I don't see a contradiction there, you realize somewhere like 90%+ law enforcement considers SJW nonsense to be a joke right? They know they are not oppressing anyone. They know they are not killers. We are the good guys and gals. Brothers and Sisters standing together against the onslaught of violent criminals, liars, haters and outright bad people who seek to harm our communities. If we don't get them off the streets then armed citizens have to deal with them at their doorstep.

Thanks for your service!

Not at all. Mistakes happen. Officers are charged criminally with those mistakes, ruining the lives of all involved.

Breaking the law is not a foregone conclusion. The person makes a conscious choice to do wrong, and naturally attracts the folks supposed to be reigning that sort of behavior in. Normally, for all but the most severe cases, you will be released on the spot with a summons to appear and plead your case under benefit of counsel. Often, for minor offenses, they are happy to work with you if you work with them. Make their job easier, surprise them by being honest and compliant. Don't scream about knowing your rights, SHOW them you know your rights by conducting yourself like a reasonable member of our community. You will be shocked how it turns out.

They're saying that accidents do happen. Cops are only human. The very low incidence of such mistakes couplef with the stress of the career is a powerful testament to the fact they are professionals.

Name one other career where making a mistake sends you to the penitentiary. If a physician screws up, they chalk it up to malpractice and the insurance pays out. No one goes to prison.

If a LEO makes a genuine mistake, their families will be terrorized and they will be pursued by the state as if they were a murderer. Punishments swift and severe.

It is BS.

Hey, I don't mean to harp on you underwerks. As an ATS contributor, you are articulate and well read. I enjoy reading your work here.

Your arguments are well put together. But when it comes to policing, you throw all that to the wind. Why is that?

If you don't want to open up and share, I get it. But I suspect you have had some sort of negative experience with police in the past. Maybe even something that was unfair.

I only wish you would apply the same rigorous process to the topic of policing as you do with everything else.

On a bad day, you are a formidable debater.

Good advice for any situation law enforcement or not my friend. The conflict is not worth it 99% of the time

Its hard for people to submit to someone else's will but the alternative is not having professional policing which is disastrous
